Reverb with Organ question
I have NS3C and I'm routing pianos and synths out from output 1&2 to my monitors and organ from output 3 to Leslie speaker. I bypass the rotary simulation since, well, no need for that because of a 'real' Leslie. However, I'm not able to figure out how to add reverb to organ sound when it's going out to output 3 and rotary speaker off. Is there a way to get that working or do I need to purchase a reverb stomp box?

Re: Reverb with Organ question
The info in the manual says that Reverb and Compressor are only available for the Main routing, not the Sub routing. Probably, your organ is going the "Sub way". No reverb, therefore.

No, Reverb works from whatever output you set to be the "main". It's on page 54 of the manual.
By the way, if the Rotary sim is enabled on both Panels, then Reverb is controlled by and from Panel A only.

Re: Reverb with Organ question
If you compare how a leslie simulator sounds *after* reverb with placing it *before* reverb, you'll notice that (in an ideal world), leslie before reverb sounds a heckuva lot better. With a real leslie, you'd want to mic it and then get some reverb on that signal to get the same effect.
I think I have gear issues ....

I like the reverb to be after the Leslie too, but I also like to have the option to have at the same time a tiny bit of pre-Leslie reverb as well, to try replicate the spring reverb of some Hammonds (or Leslies). The setup is that my S3 Organ goes to output 3 (set to be "main", to address the OP's question) with a bit or Room 1 or 2 type reverb, then into the Vent (I don't have a real Leslie), then into a reverb pedal, which serves as the main "roomy" reverb effect anyway.cphollis wrote:If you compare how a leslie simulator sounds *after* reverb with placing it *before* reverb, you'll notice that (in an ideal world), leslie before reverb sounds a heckuva lot better. Yet some people do a different thing altogether, not meant to replicate any real Hammond + Leslie setup but that I think sounds very cool, which is to have a Leslie-less signal with reverb, paralleled with a totally reverb-less signal through the Leslie, and mix them to taste. In this way you avoid the whirl-like effect of reverb and Leslie together, be it before or after. I think Schorsch on this forum does this. I don't normally use this but when I tried it sounded very interesting, especially if you add a bit of tube drive on the no-Leslie+reverbered signal. The purists won't probably like it because it's not "realistic", but you get grit and power but also the Leslie at the same time in a way that's not the same as having the drived pushed through the Leslie itself.

Re: Reverb with Organ question
What you describe is exactly what folks got with a Leslie 122RV and you're right, it was a cool effect. The Leslie had a second amplifier with a spring reverb inside the Leslie, and slots in the side of the cabinet for the separate speaker. I used to have an A100 with 122RV Leslie, and positioned away from the B3 it really sounded nice. It wasn't until after-market reverb units were later added to Hammond B3s (and others) that the reverb sound would go through the Leslie to get the special effect similar to what is now modeled in the Stage 3. Folks who had their modified Hammonds hooked up to the traditional tone cabinet and a Leslie (like my current setup) would hear the reverb through both. Personally, I like the flexibility we have with the Stage 3 of having the reverb go through Leslie, and being able to add reverb after the Leslie through a pedal or mixer. Take care.Hlaalu wrote:....Yet some people do a different thing altogether, not meant to replicate any real Hammond + Leslie setup but that I think sounds very cool, which is to have a Leslie-less signal with reverb, paralleled with a totally reverb-less signal through the Leslie, and mix them to taste. Re: Reverb with Organ question
I tried setting Program to 1-4 and yes, I get the organ with reverb from output 3. However, it comes from output 1&2 too and that's not what I want. I want to send organ without rotary effect to output 3 only. I think the correct answer is that it's not possible at least with OS v 2.54.
