Attaching a Module with Soft Magnet OK?
Hello everyone. I have a Squarp Pyramid I want to attach to the top right side of my Electro 6D, and it almost sits perfectly there but it's a little back heavy and it lifts the front of the unit. I don't want to stick velcro on the E6D as I don't want to damage the paint (it's still brand new, so I'm not ready to mark it in any way yet haha), so I thought perhaps I could stick a refrigerator magnet to the bottom of the Pyramid and that would adhere to the E6D. Can anyone see anything wrong with using a magnet on the top of the unit? Has anyone done this?

I stick a note with the programs for each song using refrigerator magnets. No issue by now.

Concerning the paint, there is one difference between the two approaches: a piece of paper inbetween to beware from scratches from the magnet. Or does your magnet already have a plastic shell?

That's indeed a big difference, in my ocassion the magnet doesn't come in contact with the paint of the case because it's the paper between.

I have used double stick velcro on equipment and instruments of all kinds for years. Never had a problem with the paint coming off on removal-

1. Velcro will not damage the paint.
2. A magnet may damage the paint.
I'd stick with the velcro.

It depends on the magnet. There are some magnetic rubber strips that would not damage the paint.cgrafx wrote: 2. A magnet may damage the paint.
Something like this may work:

Would a magnet strong enough to hold a device have any negative effects on the PSU or other electronics of the unit? I wouldn't think so, but there would be a magnetic field present.

Re: Attaching a Module with Soft Magnet OK?
I mostly am a bit restrained when it comes to magnetic fields near my electronics, don‘t know about physical backgrounds, but usually try to avoid it.
I use a silicon pad to stick my iPad on the top of my nord. When the pad is new or freshly washed I can lift up the edge of the keyboard just by pulling the iPad - it sticks very good.
I pay not more than 2 € for one pad. Available in white or black.
Cheers

Magnets can possibly do damage when close to magnetic devices (floppy disks and the like), but they don't affect electronic storage devices (SSDs and the like). Nowadays there aren't many magnetic storage devices around anymore... and on the Nords all is of the electronic kind, so I wouldn't worry at all about this.
By the way, every keyboard with built in speakers has by definition magnets close to the circuitry. And if you use the Nord Monitors attached to their mounting arms as they are intended to be, you also have magnets close to the board. A manufacturer wouldn't put them so close if they were harmful.
