Nord Stage 2 HA 88 MIDI IN to USB?

Post by gjbnlkf »

Hello there,

I want to use my NS2 and pedal board (no Idea which manufacturer) with USB MIDI. The pedal board is connected with "MIDI IN" and I already have read about the "Extern Soft thru" but it doesn't seem work. The Problem is that the pedal board uses "MIDI 3" and this cannot be changed, but I need to redirect it to "USB 2 - 16" to use it with my computer. Is there a way to loop MIDI 3 to USB 3 or do I need to buy another midi converter for USB usage?

thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to NUF,

well Soft-thru is a little limited/tricky, on Extern you need to set the channel matching the data at MIDI IN and actually I don't remember if on NS2 it can work the way you want (i.e. setting extern on USB3 when input is on MIDI3); I don't own the NS2 any more so I can't test (but you could, if your computer has a MIDI interface you can connect it to MIDI IN of NS2 and send data on MIDI3 to simulate the pedalboard you don't yet own)

Anyway let me propose you also an alternative: when you use the computer, you can connect the pedalboard to it and let the computer do the routing to send its MIDI data to NS2 (via USB).

Thank you for the quick response!

Then I'll try it with a usb midi adapter because my computer doesn't have a midi interface.
