Use of 2 Nord Drum on an external Drum Sound Module

Post by Derbin »

Need advice:

I have 2 North Drum P3 equipped in midi (input and output in DIN) to have
12 pads. Here, I would like to connect these 2 North on only one module of its battery externally in midday (Yamaha, Roland, Alésis) I do not wish any addition of pad but just a kick...
I just want to have acoustic drum sounds.

I have these accessories, MIDI Solutions MultiVoltage Thru, a mixer, Midi DIN cables, and USB Midi.

What kind of interface do you need, others?

On my PC I plugged these 2 Nord in USB Midi to use a VST
Ezdrummer works... I want to avoid going through the Pc.

Thank you for your feedback

Hi Derbin,
I think you need to merge the MIDI data from your two 3p units, there are Kenton MIDI mergers that can do that, but also check the Blokas MIDI hub, because it can merge, plus a lot more, it's quite easy to 'program' on a computer (it doesn't need to remain connected to your computer after it is programmed to merge the 2 MIDI signals). On the 3p units program the notes in the MIDI menu, so that together they will output 12 unique notes.. Connect the output of the MIDI merger to the MIDI in port of the sampler (or whatever unit), program the sampler to listen to the 12 MIDI notes..

Cheers,
Albert
