How to install Nord Sound Manager v7.54. ?

Hi,

I've downloaded Nord Sound Manager from the Nord Website and I'm trying to install it on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, macOS Big Sur v11.2.1).

When I try and open it I get the following system message:-

“Nord Sound Manager v7.54” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

I've tried opening it with control click, but that doesn't work ? Am I downloading the correct version of NSM for Big Sur ?

Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong ? . . . any advice much appreciated !

Ah ha . . . I've sorted it !

You have to go to system preferences, security & privacy, general tab, and instruct the program to run from there.

So no replies necessary - but hopefuly this might help others.

It's normal on any Mac for unsigned packages to require an explicit opening. Go to the finder, find the application in Applications, right click it, click "open" and then confirm by clicking again "open" in the dialog that pops up. System preferences is actually the slow and roundabout way to do it.

This only needs to be done the first time you launch a program, btw.

And it should be common knowledge - Macs have worked this way for years now. I don't know why it still trips people up (Edit: I mean to say, not that you should have known - especially on Big Sur -, but that this should be more clearly and obviously indicated by Apple...).
