Nord Piano and Recording in Logic Pro

Hi There,

I have a Nordpiano4, now I want to record a chordprogression with the midi cable. Everything's working when I record in Logic. Then later i'f I take out the nord midi cable the sound dissapears. How can I make sure that what I record with the nord into logic, stays so I can sing on top of it and create a song? I really appriciate your help

If you record a MIDI track you are not recording any "sound" but only MIDI data (notes and controllers played), if you want to record audio you need to record on an Audio track in Logic, i.e. use a Sound Card (Audio Interface) with at least 2 Line IN inputs, having the NP4 OUTs connected to its inputs and configured (the sound card) to be the Audio Input in Logic.

Ah okay, I have a focus rite with 2 inputs. but do I need a xlr cable to put the piano into the audio interface? (im kinda of a noob) sorry

AFIK, the Focusrite inputs are "multi" inputs. You can use standard 1/4" instrument cables. Be sure to connect both left and right Nord outputs to the Focusrite. Also hard pan the tracks in Logic left and right to get the full stereo of the piano.
If you keep the MIDI out of Focusrite to MIDI in of the Nord, Logic can send the MIDI signals back to the Nord and make sound. Just remember, you did NOT record any "sound" only the MIDI instructions that tell the Nord (or any other sound engine) what to play.

I 100% agree with what JohnT is saying.

Especially where he says "You can use standard 1/4" instrument cables." The inputs on the front of your FocusRite Scarlett 2i2 are clever. They let you plug in either an XLR or a 1/4" mono cable. The manual has more information about balanced TRS cables.
