Control pedal with lfo?

Post by Oakmasta »

Hello everyone,

There is as you know only one LFO/layer on the Nord Wave 2. I was thinking it should be possible to exapand upon that by connecting a pedal that works like an LFO - instead of manual foot motion up/down it sends signals based on the LFO settings of the box. Would be awesome to br able to get access to all the modulation that the pedal has access to. I have tried to find something like it but haven't found anything.

Does anyone know if this kind of box exists?
Does anyone know if it would be technically possible to DIY? I have never used a pedal and don't know anything about them, just assuming that if you can control the signal in an LFO-like way it should be able to work.

I know there is a custom made LFO expander that works with OB6/P6/Wave2 but I am looking for something smaller and simpler.

Hi and welcome to NUF

Take a look at this https://www.bome.com/products/bomebox is a powerful MIDI hub and processor, which with the appropriate scripting probably could be programmed to do what you are asking for; otherwise there are MIDI plugin for computer/DAW such as the free https://www.meldaproduction.com/MCCGenerator that can generate MIDI CCs in various ways, including "LFO-like" modulations.

If you want a pedal that sends LFO information, there's one Source Audio makes which does this but it is not cheap!

Hi Oakmasta,
The blokas midihub is relatively cheap, it's similar to the bomebox but perhaps a bit easier to program, it can also do LFO on CC's, it doesn't have knobs or buttons, but you can control it via MIDI, so either with a MIDI controller or the W2 itself: https://blokas.io/midihub/
Cheers,
Albert

I am not really looking for a midi sollution, I want to assign the modulation targets on the Wave 2 to pedal and have only the lfo settings on a seperate box that I would connect to the pedal input.

Guessing this kind of pedal doesn't exist then. Might start looking into how to build one myself :)

Thank you for the responses!

There's a guy on Reverb that might have such a device (or can build it...) Copilot FX.
