Trying to find a workaround to the fact that my Nord Electro 6d will not use multiple snyth programs at one time - even w/ a split...
I know the topic has been discussed, but I haven't found specifics on how to do this: Start with an existing Sample Synth program/sample/instrument/whatever, and just add a custom sample to one or two keys - then reload into the unit.
In Sound Manager, you can "upload" your existing sample, which creates a "*.nsmp3" file. However, I can't find any way to access this file or to edit it. I thought I'd be able to import this into Nord Sample Editor v.3.10, add two of my wav files for my two custom keys and be done... but it might not be possible.
I do not want to re-record my existing sound - I tried that and it doesn't sound as good. In theory what I'm trying to do doesn't sound that complicated; I just haven't found a way to do it yet.
Any ideas?

It's not possible to edit .nsmp3 files. You need the actual project file to edit them, and for the samples available commercially or on the Nord homepage, those are not available anywhere to the public.
The Nord giveth; the Nord taketh away…

Re: Multiple Synth - workaround
The only way is what you just mentioned: to record the existing sample and create a new one adding whatever you like in any key you like. To fix the bad sound issue try recording the sound raw, without any effects and you add those later when you load the sample in your board. The only tricky thing is adjusting the loops, especially if it's an evolving sound with lot of changes from start to end.

I also suggest putting one of your split/layered sounds in the left channel and the other in the right. Although that limits you to mono, it means you can alter the balance in an external mixer, so you don't have to worry about doing all the work and then deciding that one of the sounds should have been a little louder or a little quieter.
