Can you get a good brass sound on Stage 3?
Hi
I’m looking into getting a Stage 3 compact.
I used to have a Stage 2 which I thought was great apart from I struggled to get a decent brass section sound ( Earth ,Wind and Fire , Tower Of Power etc).
I’m wondering is it any better on the Stage 3 or the same?
Also is the B3 organ better ?
Thanks
Jon

Brass is pretty much the same. All the same samples load in the the NS2 and NS3. B3 organ is improved. (Though any time something is "improved" you'll also find some people who liked the old version better!)

Thanks for that.
Are the effects any better in Stage 3 so it might be a bit easier to make my own brass sound a bit better?

There are some additional effects and EQ options, and a bunch of other synth capabilities, but I wouldn't expect any of that to make a world of difference in terms of brass quality. If that's the only weakness for you, I'd try to make use of the EXT function. For example, if you have an iPhone/iPad, you can use that function to incorporate other brass sounds from there, by themselves, or to layer with Nord's.jonathanelsender wrote:Thanks for that.

I really, really struggled with brass, specifically, on the Stage 2. Tried so much, and virtually all of it sucked. Sounded thin or phasy.
On the Stage 3, I pretty much immediately managed to build a couple of presets which sound really good and are really usable in the mix.
The machines do sound quite different despite ostensibly similar specs — the 3 has a brightness and a sheen to it that lends much more credibility specifically to horns IMO, for some reason.

This is my experience as well. The NS3 seems to have a generally higher fidelity than the NS2, at least to my ears, I had an NS2 for 5 years-analogika wrote:I really, really struggled with brass, specifically, on the Stage 2. Tried so much, and virtually all of it sucked. Sounded thin or phasy.

Re: Can you get a good brass sound on Stage 3?
The video has nothing to do with brass sounds, but again it is said that the stage 3 sounds better then stage 2.
Beyond that it is just funny and perhaps you will get some inspiration for your decision.
