Gliding effect for NP4?

Post by sussko »

I have noticed that many synthesizers have an option called glide or gliding which can simulate a pitch bend when playing one note and shortly after that another note while still holding the first note to bend from the first to the second one. Is there any way to do this on the NP4 since there is neither a pitch bend controller nor a mod wheel.

I think you're describing portamento? The answer would be "no" for piano sounds on the NP4. I haven't tried pure pitch bend either, but I wouldn't expect it to work even if I had a MIDI controller. The NP4's primary mission is as a piano, and they don't have pitch bend :).

That being said, I use a NP4 to drive the piano voices on my NS3C, and I can bend any sound, including pianos. Portamento works great on the synth section of the NS3. I haven't tried it with the various stored samples though.
I think I have gear issues ....
