Stage 3 sustain issues

Post by mcballe »

Hi, I'm using a Nord Stage 3 88, and since updating to v. 2.22, I'm having occasional issues with the sustain function: During playing, it sometimes suddenly shifts to all on. It's not the pedal (brand new original Nord), since rebooting solves it, at least temporarily. Last time it ocurred, I tried switching from Auto to Open, but regardless of which I chose, there was no difference. Again, rebooting helped.

Has anyone here had the same problem or do you maybe have an idea of what could be the cause?

are you using the triple pedal or the single which comes with it? sounds like a settings issue. if you're using the single pedal, go to system and look for the setting to change sustain from triple pedal to normal, it might help to change it and change again if you have the triple pedal, sometimes software has the odd glitch and it pays to challenge it a bit. it's not happened with me luckily. good luck.

Regardless the pedal being new, I would try wit a different one (if possible), just to exclude a defect appearing at pedal (switch) level is the cause.

Sustain pedal issue - Stage EX

Post by alexonpiano »

Hi,

I've seen this as an issue elsewhere but haven't seen a resolution yet...

My Stage EX is behaving strangely with both Nord sustain pedals I have. Sustain is on when it should be off - but not all the time. Only much of the time. I thought the issue was inside the keyboard but when I kick the pedal, the sustain turns off. It's a new pedal and it's fine on my Electro 4, so it's not likely to be that. I've tried switching polarity on the keyboard, but no change there. Also tried other pedal settings. Any clues?

I have tried with 3 different pedals - same result. Thanks, LewTheKeysGuy - i have tried it and am now eagerly waiting to see if the issue is solved.

Hmm - any joy with this issue?

I'm getting a similar problem occasionally - using the NS3 on a show where we use a load of dual-panel mode patches; often two layered Pianos and then strings/pads which we fade in using a volume pedal. One particular such patch I've been getting it happen every now and then where the strings hang on sustaining - luckily mid-show I can just fade their volume down with the pedal and continue with Piano to the end of the song and then reboot which fixes it.
