Is anyone using their Nord stage 3 in combination with Camelot pro and a 2nd keyboard?
How are your experiences?

Re: Camelot Pro
Lets say, i want to controll a piano sound from a 2nd keyboard..
And another piano sound, with an organ sound and 2 synth sounds from the stage..
When i look inside camelot, it just looks i can only assign full programs to an external midi channel..
This would disqualify the stage 3 as a 2nd keyboard in my camelot setup..

Re: Camelot Pro
I am using Camelot with Nord Stage 2 Ex and a sound module along with dozens of vst. As the Nord is somewhat underpowered in the synth section I find it an absolutely amazing tool that lets me mix VST with Nord sounds as well as handling keyboard splits elegantly. It's very stable, well supported, and easy to use. A wonderful tool for live performance and for just hacking around.Bachus wrote:Is anyone using their Nord stage 3 in combination with Camelot pro and a 2nd keyboard?

I don't fully understand. Can you provide a specific example of something else you want Camelot to instruct the Nord to do?Bachus wrote:When i look inside camelot, it just looks i can only assign full programs to an external midi channel..

Re: Camelot Pro
I don't understand the problem. I don't like Camelot Pro since it's extremely limited so I use Gig Performer with my Nord Stage 2 and my Nord Stage 3 Compact and this works perfectly.
Could you describe a bit clearer what does not work or what you're trying to do?

I am trying to figure out how to set Camelot pro up with Nord stage in such a way that i can controll a part (piano)/organ or a whole pannel trough camelot from another keyboard..jazzundso wrote:I don't understand the problem. For example, i want to layer a piano synthpad and dp and play it from the external keyboard.. and on the nord play organ on the right and acoustic bass on the left (example)
There is no presets for single sounds/parts on the Nord..

Re: Camelot Pro
The inability for the Nord to do some things via MIDI commands is a limitation of the Nord, not of the software that you use to control the Nord. Though in this case, there may be a software limitation as well, because I believe the Nord does let you change individual parts of a Program via MIDI commands. The question is, does Camelot Pro support sending MIDI CC? If it does, you may be able to do what you want. If CP does not send MIDI CC, you can probably find another app that does. What platform are you running CP on?
Getting back to what the Nord lets an external app do to change recelled sounds via MIDI (in addition to standard Program Change), based on my reading of the MIDI Controller List in the manual appendix...
* CCs 6 and 8 let you enable/disable a panel, and select a panel focus which should make that panel responsive to the subsequent commands
* CCs 33-40 let you then enable/disable the piano engine, select the piano type/model/EQ you want, etc.
* CCs 9-30 let you enable/disable the organ, and either select one of its presets or individually select all the parameters you want (drawbar settings, etc.)
* CCs 42-80 let you enable/disable the synth and alter its parameters... and synth presets themselves may be selected using standard Program Change commands (bank MSB 2, instead of bank MSB 0 that is used for regular Programs... that info is elsewhere in the manual, not in the MIDI Controller LIst)

Re: Camelot Pro
Thanks for the explanation, obviously i dont have a Nord stage yet (still don’t have) ... i am looking to add a a compact for the organ and synth sounds as the upper piece in my setup. And then play the piano/ep’s from my lower key.. for my one man band setup i am using a yamaha Genos as the lower..anotherscott wrote:The inability for the Nord to do some things via MIDI commands is a limitation of the Nord, not of the software that you use to control the Nord. Your answer comfir,s my expectations, that the Nord stage is less flexible here, then the other keys i have on my list..but then it offers other things, the competition does not have..
My current set-up still works for me, so i am not in a hurry.. i think i might rent a stage for a few days and try to figure out if it will work
Camelot pro does support midi CC and is even very flexible in doing so..

Re: Camelot Pro
man this stuff gets complex with all the different hardware/software/ and styles of working. I am not comprehending why you are trying to 'controll a part (piano)/organ or a whole pannel trough camelot from another keyboard..' ? Camelot is not setup to respond to the keyboard , the keyboards, vst, modules are setup to respond to Camelot, it is the control centre.
For my setup I can assign a Piano from the Nord to the Song patch( or use a vst piano, a module piano, or another keyboard piano). Camelot can set the keyboard range for me so I can run organ and/or synth concurrently on another keyboard range. All this is saved as a Song in Camelot. The next song can have a completely different setup and range of instruments. I use the midi cc in Camelot to assign the 2 lowest keys on the Nord to move forward one song or backwards one song. I press one of these keys and i have an entire new setup with a new keyboard range assigned to the Nord using any combination of modules, keyboards, or vst. Fabulous ! Amazing power, simple , stable and elegant. I am satisfied to the point that i can do so much now with the Nord that i only need one keyboard.

I think i understand your workflow..
The reason why i use another keyboard is fairly simple..
It has graded hammer action..
Where the nord stage compact has semi weighted action..
