Midi sequencer with NE6
I moved from my Yamaha MOXF8 to the NE6 last year with no reservations. On the Yamaha, I had a simple keyboard part recorded (midi) internally that I could use to set sound. It worked great because I could start the sequence in loop, walk around and set the monitors and mains for my keyboard. Is there a way to use my ipad as a sequencer to record/play a keyboard part that I record as a midi file and loop? I have extensive experience with midi recording/sequencing but none on the ipad. Thanks...tony

Re: Midi sequencer with NE6
this could also be done without the ipad by recording a short .wav file (8 bars perhaps) and make a Nord Sample out of it. On the Stage models the HOLD button could be used so that when you tap one key the 8-bar sample loop will keep playing. On the Electro 6 I believe that putting a weight on the sustain pedal might accomplish the same thing. If you don't want to carry a brick around, it would be simple to use a 1/4" plug to temporarily insert into the NE6's sustped jack expressly for this purpose. Match the dongle plug to the type of sustain you use. That is, for normally OPEN sustain pedals, short the terminals in the plug to simulate pedal down; for normally CLOSED sustain pedals, no soldering required -- just plug in a blank plug.
beats carrying around the ipad, unless you're already bringing it to serve some other purpose. Even then, having an onboard sample and a spare 1/4" could be a simpler solution

Re: Midi sequencer with NE6
Amazing info. One of the perils of playing soundman and keyboards. I had not considered making it a wave file and creating a sample. I especially like the idea of the shunted 1/4" plug to keep the sample looping. I'll give that a try. Always something new to learn....tony

please note: I'm not 100% sure how long simple sustain pedal will keep that thing sounding loud without some decay involved, but it's worth a try...be sure to set the long loop parameter when you make the sample

Re: Midi sequencer with NE6
DONE! Works great. On the NE6, the sustain can be set to normally off/on in the system settings to match the pedal. So instead of a 1/4" shunted plug, I can toggle this setting and it sustains without unplugging the pedal. As far as I've tried so far, the loop is infinite without decay. Thanks again...tony
