External section to morph the unmorphable?

I think I will try to morph the resonance or lfo rate etc... Patch a short MIDI cable from NS2 out to NS2 in, External kbzones unlit,CC# assigned to desired #, morph the parameter knob and bobs your uncle.
I thought certain knobs were unmorphable. What do you all think of this work-around?

Wow, just wow! Great idea, can't wait to try. Did it really work for you?

Dunno... haven't tried it yet. It works in my head.

pretty nice idea!!!! Should work I presume and so you can morph also non morphable parameters. Only one at a time but different one for each patch!!! Could be great in particular for playing life, and dead simple. Would have to check the MIDI channel settings carefully though. Great idea neckbeard!!!!

Hi there,
just tried it "for real", and works as suggested like charm!
Just set the External MIDI channel to match the panel you want to control and the CC of the element you want to control (the CC parameters are at the end of the manual or find them e.g., in Midi OX). Only thing to keep in mind is to avoid double playback of each note by EITHER selecting LOCAL OFF OR disabling each instrument by double hitting the Instrument Select Button so the instrument is activated but does only respond to MIDI.
Works great for Resonance or Drive Amound via Modwheel, Control Pedal or Aftertouch! Great idea neckbeard!
EDIT: bdodds wrote a nice and easy description of how to implement it step by step:
Can't morph a particular controller? Think you're stuck? No! Use the Extern section to morph the unmorphable!
Use a MIDI cable to connect MIDI Out to MIDI In on the Stage.
In the Stage 2 MIDI menu:
- Set the global channel to "off."
- Set the slot A channel to 1, and the slot B channel to 2. (Use the regular slot buttons to switch between slots.)
- Set all other channels to "off."
- Since the Dual KB channel does not have any "off" setting, set it to something "USB." (See this thread: http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-stage ... t3276.html)
In the Stage 2 Extern menu:
- Set the Extern mode to "global."
- Set the Extern A channel to 1, and the Extern B channel to 2.
- Set "Send on Load" to "on."
- Set "Soft thru" to "off."
The rest is done per program (more precisely, per slot). So select the program where you want to morph the amp drive, then continue in the Extern menu:
Set the controller number to 83. (See the MIDI Controller list on page 58 of the manual.)
Set everything else to "off" or "no," respectively.
Turn on the Extern section, then:
- Hit Shift + KB Zone Select until all three zone LEDs are off again. (Other LEDs in the Extern section should still be on.)
- Turn off the PStick and SustPed LEDs of the Extern section.
- Hit the Parameter button of the Extern section until the "MIDI CC" LED lights up.
- Turn the Parameter knob to set the initial Drive value. You should see the MIDI LED flashing, and hear the difference in overdrive.
- Hold down the ATouch morph button, and turn the Parameter knob further to the right.
- Test whether you can use aftertouch to control overdrive as intended.
- Save the program.

Another way to avoid double playback is to set the global MIDI channel to "off," and to remove the keyboard zone assignment of the extern section (hit Shift + KB Zone Select until all three LEDs are off).

Thanks, I had never thought of that!
