NS3 "Organize" not working as expected

Post by ericL »

I searched and could not find anything on this. On my NS2 for years, I was in a pattern where I saved all my custom Programs as "User" type and then used the Category Sort feature to view all of these User Programs in alphabetical order.

It appears that the NS3 can do this, but in a cumbersome manner. In Program mode to get to this, I hit Shift and then hit the Organize button twice to select the Cat sort, which is then showing me the list of Programs in the display. If I toggle back to the full Program, the sorting stops working until I hit Shift and Organize x 2 to get back to the list. On the NS2, the sort would basically lock in and I could navigate all the programs.

Realizing the NS3 is a different animal, there may be something I've not yet figured out, but it seems very klugey that I need to go back into Shift mode each time I want to track down a sound alphabetically. To make it even more cumbersome, I don't see any capability to sort Songs at all?!

Hmm...this may be a niche feature that few users care about, but it looks like my only real option now to be able to see all my User Programs in ABC order is to drag and drop them in the Sound Manager. Which I can do, but this makes it just one more set of steps I have to remember each time I'm creating new sounds in Program slots that are not yet alphabetized.

I know I can "swap" and "move" sounds in the NS3 display, which could help for a few one-off things, but I'd really love to be able to easily sweep through all my Programs or Songs alphabetically without needing to go into the list mode.
