Contact problems with Nord Electro 4 73sw

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Contact problems with Nord Electro 4 73sw

Post by sagetunes »

I’ve got a Nord Electro 4 73sw. Love it but I’m having contact problems---about 3 times a year. One or two notes will be silent on the piano sounds. The organ notes are unaffected presumably because they not touch-sensitive. I take it to my tech who cleans them, rendering the situation fine for a few months. It just happened again on a NYE gig.
Has anyone else had similar problems? Is there a known remedy?

Thanks,
Sage

As I recall, the only remedy is cleaning the contacts. Always covering the Nord with a dust cover (when not in use) minimizes debris entering the chassis and is expected to minimize contact problem.

Also just to cover some common bases: smoke (tobacco or marijuana) in studios contributes to keyboard contact dirtiness, as does pet hair, among other ordinary causes such as dust. These are so pervasive they are not usually remedied by just a dust cover and it is best to keep the sources entirely outside of the common air shared by the studio.
