In May (!) 2017 Nord promised in NS3 announcement:
»… it is even possible to create and transfer your own samples using the Nord Sample Editor ..."

"Transfering my own samples" was strong argument for me and i sold my JP-80 (not enough money for keeping JP & NS3).
Now i got NS3 Compact cca. 3 months. I love pianos & synth and for now can live with not so perfect Organ Engine.
But the lack of the Sample Editor is legitimate complaint.

I have patches for gigs that really needs my previously personally created uniqe samples (from JP-80 which i sold etc.).
For me promised Sample Editor for NS3 is a must (and needed urgently).

Nord, please any info about when (at least approximately - November, December, 2018 …?) the NS3 Sample Editor could be released?

:silent: :?:

Its a common PR problem with many companies that believe its better to remain silent. This of coarse leaves everyone open to speculate and general make things worse than they are. (cgrafx)

The problem is when you make estimates, and something unforeseen happens. Better to shut up and release when done

No... its better to say.. hey we have some unforeseen issue and its going to take longer.

Your advise is the same as your wife, husband, son, daughter not phoning to say they are going to be late and leaving you to imagine all the terrible things that might have gone wrong.

Communication is key. Its not hard. Just let people know whats going on. It doesn't have to go into all the details, just a simple we know this is important and we are still working on it.

So it would help you if they now announced they are late (which i think we all know by now), and then gave you a new estimated date, which they might - again - not be able to honour?

I've been playing that game with a particular audio interface/DSP manufacturer for fifteen years now. They always eventually come through, and their products are absolutely stellar, but it took them several years to finally add the promised Reverb to their DSP engine (and it absolutely met expectations). Then, they announced a major upgrade for their interfaces to be shipping two or three years ago now. They stopped giving out due dates a while ago, though they changed spec to a USB-C connector at some point...

Its better to say we are working on it but don't have a good estimate, then to say nothing.

This has been proven over and over.

If it were my project at Nord, there would be somebody responsible for maintaining at least a minimal presence on a forum like this with some indication of resource allocation and priorities. Why,... because this is an incredibly valuable resource for outreach and ambassadorship. Who better to keep informed then your early adopters that will be your best advocates for promoting your business.

In contrast to what Nord does, here are two examples.

1. Henry Posner from B&H photo participates in many photo forums. When problems related to B&H come up, he responds and provides a direct method for addressing those issues.
2. Uli Behringer, of Berhinger is very active on a lot of discussion boards. He talks about product development and also helps to run interference when things are delayed, or have problems. You can't get anymore directly involved than that. He's the CEO of the company.

So, if you read carefully on the Clavia website, what do they communicate. Guess they are working theyre butts off to release that sample editor instead of answering the wining that is going on right here, right now.

”Attention Nord Stage 3 Owners: An updated version of the Nord Sample Editor adding compatibility for the Nord Stage 3 is in the works and will be released soon. Stay tuned. ”

You've missed the point of my post entirely.

The clear facts are Nord is doing a poor job of managing the flow of information regarding the development of the NS3. They are missing a golden opportunity by staying silent rather than engaging with the most ardent supporters of their products.

They are also losing some sales as a result. I pulled my fully payed for order because there is no information about product supply, sample editor delivery, an as currently delivered poor B3 implementation, and possibly other quality control issues that may affect the long term stability of the product. The fact that a significant number of units were shipped with disconnected mod-wheels is a clear indication that their internal quality control is lacking. There are also some indications that the wiring from the pitch stick and mod wheel may need to be adjusted to avoid being snagged by the back of the key bed.

All of these things could easily be addressed with a simple public acknowledgement and basic plan of action.

Its not whining to expect clear information about a product that costs $3000+. Silence is not an acceptable response.

Pulling features from a product after shipping without an explanation is also not an acceptable response.

When you have six thousand people working for you, you might have time to waste on participating in forums and seeming totally cool.

When you have twenty seven people working their asses off to get software written, firmware fixed and an entire sample library updated, plus doing the entire assembly and possibly designing new products in the shadow of a huge backlog of orders for the Stage 3, I would hope that the CEO is standing at the assembly line with all his colleagues, trying to get s*** done as fast as possible.

The message on their website is clear. If they lose a couple of customers - well, they’re back-ordered until probably mid-next-year, I’d think. They’ll be fine.

+1 with cgrafx:
The little 27 people cie doesn't hold anymore especially with all the buzz created on this forum. It takes just few minutes to write a basic statement, a lot of other small cies are doing that all the time. The thousands of German small and medium cies have done that for years and that's why that are known all over the world for the quality of their products and services whatever the number of people they are...
