Stage 3 Samples
Hi all,
I thought I'd start a new topic about this NS3-sampleformat issue, cause this might be one of the most important things for us thinking about updating from earlier Stage-models to new Stage 3.
On the Nord Sample Library 2.0 they say:
Attention Nord Stage 3 owners: The files in the Nord Sample Library 2.0 are not compatible with the Nord Stage 3. Compatible versions of the content will be added soon. Stay tuned!
Personally I have owned NS2 since 2011 and I have quite large set of my own samples and programs in my Stage 2. Now I am wondering if I am able to use those sounds in new NS3 or not? I don't even have original samples (in wav or other) in original format so making them from scratch would be very difficult or perhaps impossible. So is there a crucial problem from converting old sounds to new Stage?

Re: Stage 3 Samples
Hello
We do not know if it is an issue or else as we speak. It is just speculation.
I have the same questions that you have and others (sample, midi, Leslie 122'close).
I hope we'll have answers from the Mother site or someone else soon
I have a NS2EX88 and I've made a pre order on a NS388...so if I don't have the answers here, I will call Clavia before I buy it.
If I decide not to call them, I will be the only to blame.
Regards

Re: Stage 3 Samples
There are two contradicting statements on the Nord site:
On the library page (http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-libr ... ibrary-2-0):
Attention Nord Stage 3 owners: The files in the Nord Sample Library 2.0 are not compatible with the Nord Stage 3. Compatible versions of the content will be added soon. Stay tuned!
On the sound manager page (http://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/ ... nd-manager):
Attention Nord Stage 3 owners: Nord Sample Library 2.0 files (.nsmp) files can not be transferred to the Nord Stage 3. Compatible sample files will be added soon. Stay tuned!
but
On the Stage 3 download page (http://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/ ... rd-stage-3):
Compatible Sound Libraries
Nord Piano Library
Nord Sample Library 2.0
So we have to wait....

Yeah, it's all a bit confusing!voodoo wrote:There are two contradicting statements on the Nord site:
It appears (also from previous posts of prematurely leaked links) that Nord is converting their sample library from version 2 to version 3 -- but whether they do so by converting from the original recorded files or the released version 2 samples we do not know. It also means we don't know if there will be a publicly available tool to convert the samples to .nsmp3 format (or whatever it's called).
As for transferring programs, I guess there are quite some differences in the architecture, so at best we can maybe hope for something that can convert a program to NS 3 format that in some way will sound similar (but may still need a bit of tweaking afterwards).
Re: Stage 3 Samples
You don't suppose the larger number of split points of the stage 3 has anything to do with it do you?

No, number of split points and samples have nothing to do with each other.....BuckW wrote:You don't suppose the larger number of split points of the stage 3 has anything to do with it do you?

Re: Stage 3 Samples

1) in this forum we only use English (dans cette forum on parle seulement en anglais), please
2) I am sorry but the non compatibility was well known and expected, it was the same between NS EX and NS2 (but also between other brand/models when major changes are implemented) so you should have known before buying, in general getting all infos before spending such big amounts of money is a "good practice"
3) I guess you can still return it and get your money back if your are not happy with your NS3

Re: Stage 3 Samples
Good evening to all.
I have my Nord Stage 3 since yesterday, and naturally, after the upgrade credit note in BONE V1.0 (0.94 in the unpacking(outpouring)... Pfff), having installed(settled) Sound Manager 7.02 on the PC (because obviously the former(old) version is not compatible with the NS3... Pfff), having made a complete backup of the machine, in .........
I tried to reinject 3 working years made on my NS2.
And well, NO, NOT POSSIBLE!!!
Thanks to NORD CLAVIA to sell a synth 4000 € in which it is not possible to use the programs, samples created during 3 years on the previous model ( NS2)
Even the samples ( V2.0) of their site is not compatible with the NS3!!!
Then for all the users of NS2 or NS2Ex who, as me, would want to remain faithful to this builder(manufacturer), know that you will have to redo ALL the sounds and samples which you will have previously created on your Nord Stage 2 or 2EX.
She(It) is good their machine, but you start all over again, no upward compatibility!!! At this price(prize) there, it is a scandal!!!
Especially that, personally, my sounds are established(constituted) only ORGAN+PIANOS+SAMPLES and, therefore, I dared to hope that my sounds would pass easily on the NS3...
EVERYTHING TO REDO!!! THREE WORKING YEARS!!!
Which just goes to show that the loyalty does not pay!!!
A real scandal!!!
