Transposebproblem

Post by Nordyman »

G,day, my stage 2ex will not send a transpose message to a slave keyboard. Transposes itself , but won't transpose the slave. Never had this problem with my old Classic. Any clues please.

From the manual:
If you use the Panel Transpose feature on the Stage 2, the MIDI
output from the Extern section will be transposed.

Sorry, but no it won't. Read the book a dozen times. Either from the transpose button itself, or transposing in the the System page. Instrument transposes, but, slave does not.

What midi settings are you using? Turn everything in the Midi Menu to OFF and use the External Section as the ONLY midi data source for your external device(s) and you will have transposed midi data stream output.

If you look into the Midi Controller List, there is no MIDI CC# for transpose message, only Octave shift. So I´m not shure you can send this CC to an extern device. But check the Midi Global channel so it match the receiving device, and the Midi Ctrl Change Mode (send or send/receive, not off) in the MIDI Menu. Check the Extern MIDI A/B Channel in the Extern Menu and be Shure to have the Extern section on (light on). Maybe it works then, but sorry I don´t think so.

Best regards/ Stefan.

This is not about sending cc. Do NOT set the Midi Global Channel to match receiving device; set it to OFF. Set the External Section (A or B) midi channel to match receiving device and be sure to have the External Section turned ON. Then it will definitely work.

To Strefan, thanks mate, I was aware there is no cc for transpose, thanks for confirming that. I will look at the others suggestions. I am beginning to think I have a problem with the board itself. I have had a Nord for years, never had this problem before .garry

Maybe the extrn section is not set properly, as Pablo pointed out.

To confirm, just tried it and it works as advertised. Most likely you have the wrong MIDI channel set for the Extern section.

Another day spent on this. No good. Tried everything. My Stage rev c just simply "worked " I have been trying to sort this for weeks. Thanks everyone. Trip to Melbourne next week. The funny thing is, I look like not using the function anymore, anyway. I hook my other boards up to my Electro 5d and it works a treat. Problem is, After near 40 years as a Paramedic, I am not an absolute perfectionist, but, if something is supposed to work in a certain way, then..... Again thanks.

Just received message from Mr G ....all set to default position. I would restore the board, but , I don't want to lose all my edits. I know I can save them in the Manager, honestly. ,I can't be bothered at the minute. Bit annoyed.
