Help with a patchbay
Hello, I'm new here.
My setup consits of a Nord Stage EX88 and a Yamaha Motif-rack ES.
I want to tu put the Motif in a rack with a Behringer Ultrapath PX 1000, a Behringer Powerplay PRO-XL HA4700 e and Phonic MU802 mixer.
Now the question is, how to configure the patchbay? Which connections I should do?
Thanks in advance.
P.S.
I'm sorry for my bad english!

Welcome to the forum!
What is the purpose of the rack?
Personal instrument monitoring?
Keyboards submix to sound reinforcement PA?
Keyboards submix to recording?
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Help with a patchbay
The purpose is keyboards submix & monitoring.
What I mean is: with mixer & patchbay i would mixing the nord & the motif e take the output of the mixer and going to the PA, but I also would use the Powerplay without open the rear of the rack, so i would "patch" also its inputs and output.

Re: Help with a patchbay
Hello,
Why not use a small mix like this one :

( ALLEN & HEATH ZED-10FX for 259 € )
that you would put on your side ?

Re: Help with a patchbay
Right! In fact I have the Phonic MU802. But I have also the patchbay and the powerplay.
A few days ago I bought a Motif-rack, and this friday I'm going to buy a flight-case.
I will buy a 4U flight-case where to put all the items and I think to use the patchbay to wired the flight-case.
I don't know if I explain myself right (my english...).
If you don't understand I try to re-explain again!

Re: Help with a patchbay
Yes!
I would wired the patchbay and the powerplay to connect them to the main mixer for monitoring and, if it's possible, wired a part of the pacthbay to the inputs of the phonic!

Re: Help with a patchbay
Hello Franz,
Do I understand correctly that the phonic mixer will somehow be inside the rack case?
How many persons will have headphones and mixes?
The item that doesn't seem to fit the project is the phonic mixer.
I would think that a mixer like this would be a better choice:

Re: Help with a patchbay
You're right!
I know that the Phonic don't suite well the project. I will change it later, but for the moment I can't spend any other money (I have just bought the Motif!)
What I would know is: how to wire the mixer (suppose I have the Ultralink) with the patchbay and the Powerplay?

Re: Help with a patchbay
Hello Franz,
I neglected to ask if you were running stereo, or mono signal paths, so I'm assuming stereo.
Here's how It could be connected:
Configure patchbay connections 1 and 2 as Split Configuration Mode 3 and connect the NSEx:
NSEx Output Left to 1A Front.
NSEx Output Right to 2A Front.
Configure patchbay connections 5 and 6 as Split Configuration Mode 3 and connect the Motif:
Motif Output Left to 5A Rear.
Motif Output Right to 6A Rear.
The Nord signal will be found at:
1A Rear "Left" {to mixer channel 1, panned Left}
2A Rear "Right" {to mixer channel 2, panned Right}
1B Rear "Left" {to patchbay connection 3A Rear} short patch cord.
2B Rear "Right" {to patchbay connection 4A Rear} short patch cord.
3A Front {Possible Nord Left direct to FOH}
4A Front {Possible Nord Right direct to FOH}
The Motif signal will be found at:
5B Rear "Left" {to mixer channel 3, panned Left}
6B Rear "Right" {to mixer channel 4, panned Right}
5A Front "Left" {Possible Motif Left direct to FOH}
6A Front "Right" {Possible Motif Right direct to FOH}
The Mixer Main Output Left to patchbay connection 7A Rear "Split Configuration Mode 3".
The Mixer Main Output Right to patchbay connection 8A Rear "Split Configuration Mode 3"
The Keyboards mix will be found at:
7A Front {Possible keys Left mix to monitors}
8A Front {Possible keys Right mix to monitors}
7B Rear {to Headphone amp Main Input 1 Left, Rear connection}
8B Rear {to Headphone amp Main Input 1 Right, Rear connection}
There are a few caveats to this scenario:
The headphone amp could serve as a 2 channel mixer rendering the Phonic mixer superfluous.
The Phonic mixer has a headphone output rendering the Headphones amp superfluous.
With just two instruments, the ideal setup would be to send both instruments direct to the FOH system, then use a FOH monitor mix for your headphones.
Just my 2 Centavos worth.
Cheers, Hanon
