In a hardware keyboard? Yes (some may argue that the kronos's ep-1 sounds better).
In DAW? no.

Right... I didn't mean to imply that every vintage keyboard sound of the Nord is unsurpassed; but rather that, in hardware keyboards, taken as a whole, I think it has the most through collection of quality vintage sounds.

I've been looking at the Neosoul keys and it really is hell of a good.
The Nord suitcase is good, but the Neosoul is bang on.
After listening to their demo, I'm going to price it up.
I just want more variety. I'd love a better clavinet as well.

A fresh new rhodes sample would be nice, but what i really need is the upper register velocity to be fixed. When soloing w/ a band anything i do in the upper third of the keyboard register on my E3 or stage 2 gets lost in the mix. it just has no bite up there. C'mon nord fix that!

Any news or rumors there about a new rhodes sample?

Unlikely that there would be rumours ahead of time. New samples arrive randomly and unannounced with no discernible pattern to their release.

Hi Forum - My 2 cents... I have a NSEX73 that I
Use all the time but I'd like to vent a bit...
I think it's high time that Nord updated it's
Elec piano and clav samples. The Rhodes samples
are passable at the bottom and middle of the
keyboard compared to others but are simply
pathetic at the top end of the keyboard. The
sound gets so weak and quiet that they are
rendered completely useless. And forget
about soloing on them! The wurly sounds
good but the attack is completely wrong. It's
way too loud and spiky. And, no, the almost
useless master compressor doesn't help. And
The clav samples? Give me a break. And
while I'm on a roll... The piano samples
have the same upper register issues as the
Elec piano samples. And the pianos sound
great in stereo but just plain bad in mono.
the string res samples are terrific, though.
And the organ sounds pretty good but take
off the rotary effect to run a ventilator or
real Leslie and the top end is WAY overhyped
on the raw organ sound. I like the convenience
of having a board for screwing around or
travel with all the basic sounds in a tiny
and light package but it has no first choice
go-to sounds. The absolute best feature is
the fabulous pitch stick. And even that is frustrating
because it is locked into a 2 half step bend.
And the memory capacity? You gotta be
kidding! $3-4K and i gotta swap out sounds to have
a couple different sounds? The NS2 is
a little better in some regards but sampling
With only 1 sample layer?? My friends I hate
to say it because I really like the idea of
this keyboard but.... The emperor has no
clothes.

muckmuck, maybe you should sell your Nord and buy a superior alternative.
Yeah, good luck with that!

Nord need potential for improvement. otherwise they produce the perfect keyboard, and nobody wants to update to the next model.
