Re: PETITION for a new RHODES sample (sign if you want it)
The tack piano is great. I feel in a Doors song when I play it.

Re: PETITION for a new RHODES sample (sign if you want it)
Great Stuff!!
I'm with NS2 88HA
for me i mainly use EP1 and EP5, 1 being warm and 5 because of the 'bell'.
Although it would be great if EP1 could have more body and a touch of bell for the attack when played really hard.
and for EP5, a little brighter (not EQ-hi bright) and fuller at the top would be perfect!
very much agreed with some of the posts saying something regarding 'fully-mapped'
EP1-6 in a way, too similar to each other in my taste.
hope to hear some good news soon!!!!

Re: PETITION for a new RHODES sample (sign if you want it)
HI,
my wish would be a Fender Rhodes Sample at about 60 or 80 MB. At the moment, the Rhodes sample are between 6 and 14 MB.
I think, a lot of "problems" with the actual Rhodes samples came from too small files.
I think, most of us use the Organ and the Rhodes, so there should be a really big sample.
My prefered sample would be "EP1 low Deep" which to me is quite perfect, but you can hear and feel the loss of information in the samples.
I never use a grand-piano sound on the digital pianos . . .
Clavia, please give us one real big sample, 3 or 4 velocitiy layers, no loops and so many notes sampled as possible .. ...
Thanks,
Michael

Re: PETITION for a new RHODES sample (sign if you want it)
I'd like to see the suitcase speaker in the amp-sim department.
I had an old suitcase piano and if you wired it straight into HIFI equipment, it would sound like Nord's EP1. The speaker cab made it sound otherwise. If you turned it down, you'd get quite a faithful EP1 sound (glassy) and if you turned it up, it sounded "right". (I had the 100W amp, rather than the 80W).
I'm interested in how the Electro 3 ping-pong pan sounds through speakers about 2m apart. ie:- whether it would be worth them including it in the effects, like they have done on the Electro 3. For me, the Suitcase Pan is definitive Rhodes. The sine-pan is bloody poor. Let's face it, who uses "Pan" for anything apart from the Rhodes?
I spent hours fiddling with the action on my old one and it sounded good despite sounding utterly poor through headphones (hifi) the speaker cabinet seemed to smooth over clacky notes and sharp tones. What I find odd is how Nord failed to get a decent high range on both of the pianos.
I am pretty sure that we aren't due any more Rhodes pianos and even if they do bring some out, there is still the lack of suitcase cab sound the "roar and buzz" in front of you. I imagine there will be a lack of ping-pong pan on the next stage and somewhere in the dim future it might get included.
I've decided to sod it and get a late Mk1 100W suitcase 88 and spanner it to taste.

I'm really waiting for Clavia to give the nord stage 2 something that would make me feel it's contributing to my home studio setup, and giving me sounds my DAW can't. I've been waiting long enough (had the first nord electro, than stage classic and now stage 2) and nothing's happend. I really hope something happens that will convince me not to sell it.

The Scarbee Mark 1. I own this one and a NS2 88. It's a shame having to run software in addition to a 4000$+ keyboard to get a decent rhodes sound of it. Shame on you, Nord!

Nord should just license some samples from 3rd party companies and charge us for the downloads.
I'd be happy to pay for new sounds. The Broken Wurly would be nice! I don't expect I to be free.

Re: PETITION for a new RHODES sample (sign if you want it)
The Scarbee looks interesting.
I don't really want to buy a Rhodes as they are such a pain to move, I will pay for a decent sample though.
I've come to a real conclusion that there is a nasty discrepancy between the Nord velocity and response with the clavinet. It's not so much about key weight, but velocity curve. The clav was so much more sensitive.
The nord is crying out for a controller keyboard style velocity suite of options. The 4 aren't enough.
It's a bloody shame, as that's how you would really get VALUE out of a £3000 instrument.
I was 18, that was about 1995. I had a Yamaha P100 portable clavinova piano (the first one in the UK!!!!!) and was doing a recording session with my band. The engineer hooked me up to some MIDI stuff and buggered the whole thing up. I wasn't proud of the result.
Following that, I vowed never to use an instrument which had a midi cable. Either a mic or a line. I got a Mk2 Stage 73 Rhodes, Then a Mk1 88, Then a D6 Clav, Then a Hammond C3 then a Rhodes Suitcase, then a Wurly 200a, then a Minimoog D, then I sold them all and played acoustic.
Got a call, needed a board......it takes years to assemble a collection of classic gear unless you want to break your bank and spend a month fixing them.
I head about the electro 3, bought a EX88 instead. Very impressed. I was initially blown away by it for about a year.
Then the shortcomings started

Re: PETITION for a new RHODES sample (sign if you want it)
Actually i don't know if i should upgrade from NE 3 73 to the HP-Version because i play mainly Rhodes / Piano on it. But i think the same as Affen - why should i pay 2199 Euros for a board and having no satisfying Rhodes sample like Scarbee or Neo Soul which i use. I do not understand which problem Clavia has?!?I Is it really more difficult and expensive to make some new samples of a Rhodes and a Wurly as to sample a Bösendorfer or a Yamaha Grand and tons of upright pianos??
