Lee was dismissed by many for his flamboyance, mannerisms, and corny humor (which was plenty ribald on stage), and by stuffy, self-important critics for his showy, over-the-top style. However, that guy could play! Take a look at some of his performances on Youtube. What technique! At his peak (1950's - 1970's) he was the most highly paid entertainer in the world. RIP Lee.

Dont really appreciate your attempts at humor as politics is a sore point in our country, also as we protect most of your countries, and support many countries hard to read your posts making fun of our leaders. May need to find other music forums.

This is a very international forum, and speaking of "our" and "your" countries doesn't come across that well and may send a message more about a limited perspective of the sender than anything else...

It's probably not a good idea either to ask others to avoid political statements/humor by reference to ones own political views :-) Besides we probably all see examples of good and less so leaders in our respective countries.

That being said, this is a very open and helpful forum - one of the best of it's kind on the net, unrivaled in the 36 years I've been connected - so I'd suggest to just skip very old threads that may offend, and hang out a bit more - and just accept that we may not share political views but still love playing our boards and share knowledge with others and we can still be friends :-)

Not "The Internet" but I got my first email and uucp news groups connections in 1984 :-) 1200/300 baud high speed connection with the local University hub (Diku) that connected via mcvax to uunet hubs across the Atlantic. Fancy stuff at that time.

At first it felt really weird when non researchers etc joined some time later... Then you couldn't know on what basis people were making their statement :-)

ARPANET existed in the 60s and the “official” birth of the internet is generally thought to be 1983 - so by my math, baekgaard was 2 years late to the party :-)
