Just submitted an issue to Nord.
See line 72 in bugsheet : Using Layer button switches FX focus wrong going back to layer 1.
Has probably always been there, but it's definitely there in 1.46 and 1.54.
Got a very quick reply back : it's not a bug but a feature... :
The FX focus automatically follows the focus of Layer buttons in the Organ, Piano and Synth sections, as they are pressed. That means whichever part you select (Organ, Piano, or Synth), the effects section will follow that part, even if you initially had FX on a different part of the layer.
So this behaviour is by design, it is not a bug.
THere’s a request by customers noted by Nord to change this behaviour, so this might change in a future update of the operating system.

Talking back to myself again, just received a reply from Nord :
The unexpected behaviour is confirmed:

Nord Stage 4 with external sequences

Good evening,
I recently got a Nord Stage 4 (coming from the Electro6D) and im using it in combination with an MPC Live 2 sequencer & ableton.
I was trying to set everything up to send/play multiple layers I have recorded into my sequencer. The recording into the sequencer worked well, but then I realized that there seems to be no option to set the Sections into mode, that only plays what comes in from my sequencer.
I need to be able to feed 2-3 different layers/sequences of midi in to different sections of the nord to be played out (for example a chordprogression on Piano B, another one on Organ A and one to Synth B.) I want those only to only be controlled by the midi in (sequencer with different midi-channels) not the nordkeyboard itself BUT I still want to play another layer live. This is how I construct my live performance and I know this was no problem on the Electro 6D (sure, fewer layers there) but also on the stage 3 that was possible. There was something like an "external only" function per section.
Can anybody tell me if I'm right with my observation that they changed that from the NS3 to NS4 ? I saw a few posts in other forums that indicate that, but want to make sure i'm not missing something.
If that is the case, I would ask for this to be put on the NS4 issues / bugs List, since it renders the NS4 useless/much less usable for the implementation in my production and workflow and live performance with the MPC, but also with ableton.
Thanks ahead and have lovely evening Y'all
P.S.: Also grateful for any solutions & tips
(also updated the bug sheet/ improvement wishlist)

Hi ! coming from NS2 to NS4, I'm very desapointed by two important missing things : playing on stag with the 88 Keybed for piano touch, I'v got a second keyboard to control organ sounds from the NS for example.
For this example, global is on channel 16, Dual KB for NS2 or Aux KB for NS4 is on channel 15.
In NS2, you put the Organ in Dual KB mode (same as Aux KB for NS4) and when you use wheel on second keyboard sending on channel 15 for morphing on Dual KB channel, it morphs only the instruments assigned to the Dual KB (part B, it can be piano, organ and/or synth. In my case, it's organ). On the organ for example Drawnbar positions. Instruments on Part A are not moving, you can use the NS2 wheel to morph their paraméters.
In NS4, even if organ is in Aux Kb mode, if the second keyboard is sending wheel midi message on the channel 15, nothing happens. You have to send it on channel 16 (global), but in this case it's modifying all the other part your are playing on the NS4 directly ...
Rotary encoders are missing : NS4 sliders should have a catch or relative option per program for those sliders, so you won't have jump in your sound when you'are touching it, if the slider position is far from the mémorised position.
Very important for volumes, cutoff fréquency on the synth etc.
Is there a way to propose those thongs to Nord, because I think that if we ask, we are a lot to have those problems.
Concerning volumes, as Lars Pollack demand too in the request list, it would be good if CC11 was directly received and used on the channel received. For example CC11 received on Channel15 with organ mapped as Aux KB on Channel 15 should modify volume of organ without having to use a morph on pedal -> you keep morph usage with the NS4 pedal for others parts.
At last, CC25 and CC27 are not responding when I send them from a second keyboard : no percussion or vibrato activated.
Bests regards

Hey Fonkyzeus - pleeeeease can you submit a big / feature request to Nord for this? It is crippling, such a poor experience, makes the NS4 very risky to use. I submitted one when the keyboard first came out, but heard nothing. Please submit on the Nord website!! Everybody else should do this too! we've waited long enough for a change!

I did it on the "resquest list"
Every NS4 owner should ask this to Nord !

Hello all,
I kindly ask NS4 developers to enable volume pedal and sustain pedal midi send when you enable AUX Keyboard trough AUX midi channel. That would enable us not to sacrifice A,B or C synth panel just to have these 2 essential controls over AUX keyboard with is most often nord elektro or wave 2.
Or you could leave synth engine on when you put A B or C on external mode. We don't wanna lose 3rd synth engine just to control AUX keboard.
Many of us that switched to NS4 from NS3 are really disappointed due to this lack of functionality.
