I own a pair of K8s and a pair of K10s. I setup them up side by side playing my Stage 2 through them. My main focus was the grand piano sound. I heard a noticeable difference. Although the K8s sound very good the K10s sound much better. The K10s are more full and even sounding. The K8s have a slight nasally tone which I find distracting and electric sounding. At loud volume the difference becomes even greater -- the piano starts to sound harsh on the K8s but not on the K10s. Hope this helps.

Hey Now - I've been on a 15+ year Quest for Good sound reinforcement for keyboards. Mainly trying to get a decent Acoustic Piano sound.
I've tried BOSE, Yamaha PA (10" spkr), more recently 2 Fender Excelsior amps with 15" speakers - I was getting close - switched out 12AX7 tubes for 12AU7s & was
sounding pretty good.
Then a week ago - on a whim - I purchased 2 GEM TONE 15" powered speaker cabinets ($299/pair), and my sonic dreams have come true.
No more tinkly goofy high-end piano sounds (hate that ear-aching sound). Every sound I use - mostly B3/Leslie, E Pianos, & Acoustic Piano -
all sound just Great. I'm as happy as a Pig in manure. This WORKS !!
Would love to hear other opinions/comments/suggestions.

+1 for the K10. I use one in mono for my playback and use the K8 for a vocal monitor. Very compact, plenty loud, and so far, extremely reliable with their 6 year warranty.

Hi Pantoufle,
two years ago I had to make a similar decision (Behringer 208D or AER compact60-2). The Behringer got the job, but only because of it's unbelievable low price. For that the sound quality is very good. The AER sounds with all kinds of sounds (ac pianos, rhodes or even synths) more detailed. If you don´t need the Guitar-preamp-section of the Compact60 you can get the AER AG-8 (
http://www.aer-amps.com/images/stories/ ... er/AG8.pdf): it's an compact-60-2 with a smaller input section but the same great sound...). I´ve also tested the Bose L1 compact system and had the same result: There´s a little lack of bass...
I think with the QSC K10 you´ll get a "louder" pair of speaker; if the "loudness" of the AER is enough for you, you get a more detailed sound with the AER ones.
Best regards
Tim
(no more red keys - at the time on stage with the black Kronos...but future will tell...

Which exact speakers are that? I did a Google search and couldn't find any "GEM Tone" speakers. What kind of exotic speakers are that please?
