Ns3 compact. I hear it. But only with amp sim on and mid on +15
The noise seems to appear from minimum force up to a 30% on left channel (I listen throw headphones) while strings are sounding from center/ right. It seems not coming from piano. But playing harder then 30% probably the sample changes and the noise disappears.
Timing suggests that it's the same sample on B and C

OK, now I managed to hear it also. It requires a really quiet environment and (for me) both treble and midrange at +15 dB until I noticed it in one channel. Once you hear it, you can scale back a bit on the EQ and it's still there faintly, but more or less goes away as EQ is removed. Maybe it's some part of the sampling procedure (like a wooden stick handle or some such that makes a faint noise).

It is not an issue that I've ever noticed before, but maybe I simply don't deploy such strong EQ in my playing. I'd rather pick something else, like the Bright Grand, I think.

It is also there on the M version, on the exact same two notes.

I tried as Baekgaard suggested me, by playing these 2 notes via midi, via the virtual keyboard, same artefact, on B and C, on royal piano. It is not the grand hardware cause. If i don’t add mid eq it is almost disapeared. So this is the solution with this piano may be, but..

Yes, it's a small artefact on the Royal 3D that is only audible when using somewhat extensive EQ.

As mentioned, in case you need a very bright piano and is bothered by the"doorslam" maybe the Bright grand or the Silver could be helpful with less EQ also.

It's strange how this has gone unnoticed in more than 3 years...

Maybe because it requires quite some EQ to catch it, and many of us may consider the Royal 3D to be a nice piano in itself that is best enjoyed as-is

Sure I do, it's one of my favourites and indeed I don't EQ it much if all. By the way, as the OP was saying, this "discovery" does raise the question as to whether XL pianos are really key-to-key sampled. This bug per se doesn't techically disprove it (whatever caused that click might have gotten in the way again on the next key sample) but it raises a question mark in my opinion.

On the other hand, though, I don't see why Nord would "cheat" on this. Also, XL pianos are more than twice the size of L pianos. All that MBs must be there for a reason...


EDIT: In my opinion, this should be on the "bug thread" and/or possibly sent to Nord. Not technically a bug with the keyboard but I'd like to know if I were Nord. After all this piano sample is possibly one of their best and they may well want it to be as perfect as possible.
