they are complaining because they can't layer multiple programs at the same time. Meaning they want 4x of each engine. As pointed out, buy a second NS3 and knock yourself out.

LewTheKeysGuy wrote: Technically the reference to yamaha and korg isn't correct. the reason behind this is the motif XS and XF, Korg Krome and Kronos, even the Roland Fantom, have the ability to merge patches together in live sets or combis regardless of the engines used, I should know, I've owned a few lol.

The nords don't operate like this due to two constraints. 1: DSP, 2: Recource and OS Design. the 2nd part can be changed fairly easily and hidden pages could in fact be created by using the shift key with a key combination if the OS was given such an addition, but the way to do this particular option wouldn't in fact be this, it would be a method of taking samples (synth in this example) and layering them as a sub component, doable, but the issue then is voice polyphony.

I used a few too and that's why I specifically spoke about merging Combis, not patches. Try to merge 2 Combis (not Voices) on a Motif XS, for example, keeping all Insert effects of course: you can't ;) . Transforming a Program into a synth sample, as you suggest, is not at all equivalent to layer the original program, also; but cgrafx has indicated the solution

I'm personally not phased by it, at the end of the day it's a stage piano / master controller, not a workstation, if it was a workstation, then you could do this because you'd be relying not only on layering but full midi support as it's needed to achieve it. I honestly don't care. I've worked with more than enough workstations in my time to know their strengths, weaknesses, etc, not just as a performer but also as a developer / tester, etc for 2 companies and I'm glad I don't work for them or with them any further as I'm simply done with them, I won't be wasting money on their products again, simple as that.

As far as I'm concerned and yes you're right, grab a 2nd stage 3, or why not nord release a rack version of the stage 3, perfectly viable option, that way if you really wanted performance functionality, daisychain 2 stage 3 racks to the stage 3 master keyboard and then you could run what you want. headache solved. I'm up for that and would put cash down for a stage rack edition.

Why? When you buy it you (should) know what you buy... a Moog One costs more and cannot do that as well, for example, so what?

Not my point I am very happy with the product but come on man.. The technology and cost of what i am asking for is not expensive by any stretch. $4000 is a lot of money for a synth . If i didn't play for a living would be way out of my price range of what i would spend for weekend warrior type of thing.

If I understand the topic correctly, I don't see how would not be expensive to double the number of independent panels, which would also double the number of piano, organ and synth engines, effects and program parameters? This wouldn't include any changes to the front panel, displays and software to manage 4 panels instead of two, including the extra resources to manage seamless transitions.

I didn't realize the parts electronics software etc were made of gold My fault... These boards don't cost that much to make as per usual the public is overcharged for many things in life but maybe its just me... I love this board but just like any "high end " piece of musical equipment we pay too much...

You seem to be incredibly naive about the costs of producing a product like Nord does. The cost of each unit has to cover not only the hard cost of the materials, but the rent on the building, the salaries of the employees, business insurance and benefits, development costs, etc. and a healthy enough profit to stay in business.

I think you will find the real cost is not nearly as over priced as you dream that it is.
