Re: Sending MIDI transpose signal
By the way - I assume without an interface I will not be able, plugging the iPad directly into the host USB of the NS3, to manage anything via the iPad?

Re: Sending MIDI transpose signal
You would but on the NS3 only (and you need the Lightning to USB adapter anyway)jrcornelisse wrote:By the way - I assume without an interface I will not be able, plugging the iPad directly into the host USB of the NS3, to manage anything via the iPad?

Correct, in that case it probably needs the USB-C to USB adapteranotherscott wrote:If it's a new iPad, it has USB-C instead of lightning.

Re: Sending MIDI transpose signal
Hmm, I am getting a bit off-topic here, but really wondering. If I connect my iPad to the NS3 (I have the camera connection kit), I already read I can play instruments on my iPad. What else could I do? Could I program or control the NS3 FROM the iPad and for which occasions?

Re: Sending MIDI transpose signal
That connaction enables iPad and NS3 to exchange MIDI messages (only!), so:jrcornelisse wrote:Hmm, I am getting a bit off-topic here, but really wondering. You can play iPad music apps (yes) using Ns3 as master keyboard and use apps (such as the ones I already mentioned and others like Set List Maker or Bandstand) to organize your setlists and/or send Probram Changes (or other MIDI messages) to the NS3
You cannot "program" NS3 sounds as there is no editor on the iPad ( neither on Pc/Mac actually), but you can send MIDI CCs to change some parameters (see the list on the NS3 manual)

Re: Sending MIDI transpose signal
For all iPads after the iPad 2 there has also been the option of Bluetooth midi. For more recent devices to connect an iPad to any midi compatible instrument all you need is either a midi Din Bluetooth dongle or a midi USB Bluetooth dongle, fitted to the instrument. This allows wireless midi control from iPad and at the same time will allow you to charge the iPad via its lightening connector. Something that’s often a useful safety measure in live performance.

Re: Sending MIDI transpose signal
Thanks all for the help. Works great via the cable. Have not found the right table with program and bank allocations yet, but Im sure it is somewhere here around the forum.
@Hector- thanks. I have a bluetooth usb dongle from my alesis Vortex, but that is not a USB host connection. Besides, my experience is that in a live situation the bluetooth connection has not always been proven reliable, but thats a personal choice. Good to know it is possible anyway.
