NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2

This is one man‘s opinion.

I personally am MUCH happier with the Stage 3 compact than i was with the Stage 2 Compact.

The keybed is much more playable for pianos than the old one was, the pianos sound much better, the synth is stellar and much improved over the Stage 2 - I have found it WAY faster to make a sound “work” well with the new board, including horns, which I struggled with for four years on the old deck.

There is a general difference in bass response which does the ‘board no end of good (especially de-muddying the pianos), but which makes a different approach necessary when translating synth patches.

Literally the only issue I have is a bit too little warmth on the Hammond, but that is the much-talked-about Leslie balance that may get fixed - or not, if it was a conscious decision to stay in keeping with the rest of the general sound.

On the whole, the machine sounds much more high-end and expensive than the previous one did, without giving up any of the character that I’ve always loved about the Nords.

And from feedback I’ve had in various places and in person (including from people who’ve known me way longer than I’ve been playing the Stage 2), I know that I am not alone in that perception.

Some are happier some don't. So far, All I got is, worthless eq, worse amp simulator, worse DAC, different hammond (not the worse issue IMO), electric pianos doesn't sound the same at all, synth section is good but the eq section doens't allow you to do nothing than mid, mid and more mid.

Oh, and: I set up my general-use clavinets (I have a D6 and an E7 in the studio and love me a good clav) - and bizarrely, I didn’t even notice that they’d omitted the “medium” switch on the EQ. Somehow, it didn’t matter.

As I said, some don't mind, others do. If you didn't notice, ok, by I did, because I used to this. By the way, I have a D6 too and the one of the best part of clavia until now was: they allowed you to have the same clavinet D6 as the original one, As they did with B3, farfisa, Rhodes, Wurlitzer (If not what the sense of simulating the small speaker), as they did with triple nord pedal, string ressonance, and all this sutile things that some people still did care...

One man that also have a Suitcase MK I Rhodes, a D6 hornher clavinet and play most of the time of his life on a Steinway C acoustic piano.

Mine is slightly earlier. Power board is 2.02, but the chip revision where yours says “Moderkort 1.11” is 1.10 for me. Mine is dated 6/22 and 6/23.

FWIW, neither the Stage 2 nor the Stage 3 get close to the old Electro 2 when it comes to emulating wah clav, and that was way limited by comparison. I really don’t care about options if the basic sound works off the bat.

Whatever they’re doing in the Stage 3 works well for most of us.

I don’t have a Steinway, but between home and the studio, there’s three clavinets, two CP70B, five Rhodes (one Mk2 with a custom preamp that I don’t like very much), a Wurlitzer, a Hammond A100, two B3, several acoustics, and about forty analog synths.

I’ve only spent four years with the Stage 2, and ten with the Electro 2, so...er...that means something I guess?

Why would I lose? Just because I unscrewed the machine and took some pictures? As far as I know, it had no security seal or notice of non-opening.
