Connecting midi keyboard via USB to A1R

Post by Riotgrrl »

Hi, sorry for the newbie question.

Is it possible to connect a midi keyboard via USB to play the A1R, leaving the midi in to be used by a sequencer, or can I only connect a keyboard via the midi in?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

You can't connect a USB cable directly from your midi keyboard into the A1R USB port to free up the Midi in socket The USB port does not work like this on the A1R,(It's not a powered USB socket like some devices),Your only able to connect them via the DIN(Midi) sockets for direct communication in a hardware configuration.

The USB port on the A1R does receive/send midi data though so If your using a software DAW You can however play the A1R via its USB in from a computer USB Out port with your midi keyboard plugged into the computer first via another USB port and play it that way via the Software, this would free up the Midi in port.

Hej!

I use MIDI Patchbay on my Mac's ... just for that purpose. Works very well and is simple to use.
