Yes, you're right anotherscott and you described it better than me. These two different "overdrives", one connected to the amp simulator and the other one on the organ section are interesting sonically -- and not available on the NE5D. I've gotten some interesting sounds with these two "overdrives", but I don't yet know the best way to explain how these two settings function together. Still sorting it. I did change my B3 Org Key Trigger Point to "Low", located under SOUND SETTINGS, and that made a world of difference to me. I also use Leslie 122 with the Close setting and that helps out a lot too. Although I still don't think the B3 is as fully developed as the sound engine in the NE5D, it's good enough for me to leave the NE5D behind. Nord impresses me with their constant (virtually non-stop) tweaking and updates that are nothing but astounding. I greatly respect all of the major keyboard manufacturers, but kudos to Nord for their near constant updates and new features. They keep listening, and we keep talking!anotherscott wrote:There was Murphy's comment about extra distortion on the organ, but looking at other posts and the front panel itself, I think what's being referred to is that the NE5 has just the single drive knob in the effects section, the NS2 adds an additional, separate dedicated drive knob in the rotary speaker panel. So it looks like you now have two sources of overdrive, which can be used individually or in combination. So I don't think it's necessarily "different" overdrive, but rather that there are more overdrive options.maurich wrote:I own NE5 and I love sound of organ, I use it very much at gigs...and I order a NS3 compact, because I read that keyboard has C2D organ software ( like my NE5D), but I read on that forum on few threads- different fast Leslie? Different overdrive and chorus 3? I am little confused now...

How so? The only thing that should change is that the sound would trigger lower in the key's travel. Typically, "High" should feel quicker, more responsive, while "Low" would allow it to trigger more in sync with any other layered sound.Murphy wrote:I did change my B3 Org Key Trigger Point to "Low", located under SOUND SETTINGS, and that made a world of difference to me.!

Re: Stage 3 even worth getting?
In all honesty, I don't know why. I'm not a real organ player and that might be a factor. I've played classical and jazz piano most of my days, and since I've played through a lot of different sorts of etudes and such, it could be my fingers/ears are used to a deeper travel before sound triggering. Not sure. Although I play the B3 for R&B and Country, I don't play classical church organ, because my technique isn't quite good enough for classical organ. I really appreciate people that can play tocattas and fugues on organs. I realize this doesn't make much sense, but I'll try and ponder that a bit to see if I can come up with something that does make sense. Thanks for pointing that out because I didn't think about the logic at all -- just trying to sound good. I really do like the way the NS3C's keyboard works, which is amazing for me, because I've always had to cart around a Roland RD-800, and for many gigs, that won't happen anymore. I'm going to check out the Kawai ES-110 though. I have no idea why the NS3C's keyboard works so well, but it does for me.

You have a perfectly reasonable explanation there, but in the end, how you relate to an instrument doesn't require logic... if it feels good to you, don't worry about it, just enjoy!Murphy wrote:In all honesty, I don't know why.
