Well I have lots to say on this matter. But I am going to hold my comments until tomorrow. I have my first gig with the NS3 88 tonight. I am in several bands but this one is classic rock - mostly 70s - Santana, Allman's, etc. About 50 / 50 piano vs B3. My main concern is how the NS3 organ sounds in a band mix at club volumes. One thing I loved about the Electro 5 the NS3 is replacing is that it works great in a band mix - does not get screechy or harsh even at high volumes, but cuts through nicely. Some of the other clones ( I own most of them ) can't make this claim. Will report back tomorrow - will even try to get some video if I can get my friends that are coming to stop socializing long enough to grab the GoPro.

I agree and using NS2 until NS3 is ready for prime time... Too many bugs, no way to back up, load samples left me standing at the altar.

Could anyone post an audio example please? This sounds very odd.

Operating system software engineer here, I think that’s more relevant than amateur musician. This is a very complicated piece of software, the Stage 3. There’s lots and lots going on there. I wouldn’t have ordered a Stage 3 sight unseen if I didn’t have faith in Nord to fix (most) of the bugs. They won’t fix all of the bug list because they won’t agree that all of them are bugs, sorry. It’s going to take the rest of this year to get some of this stuff sorted out, if you ask me.

Nord is at a critical cross-roads. If they blow the Stage 3, they’re probably done. The Lead 4 and Lead A1 were not exactly well-received, and if the Stage doesn’t live up to its billing, I (and many others) will be left with a $4,000 door stop and we will never buy another Nord again. That’s probably abundantly clear to them too. So, be patient and remember that software takes a lot of time to get right.

Agreed, I feel like Nord will fix the B3 part of the Stage 3 at some point. Everything else, as far as I've seen seems to be fairly solid. Had my first live gig with it last night, and it did splendidly with no issues.

I’ve missed my Piano 3 from the day I boxed it up and can’t wait for my Stage 3 to arrive, personally. Yes, I have an out planned, the Korg SV-1. I really like how it feels and sounds, but it’s not a piano.

I agree with your assertion about the SV-1. I have a friend that plays it and I really like the keyboard action.

The SV1 is a great board to put under a Nord SW... it gives you a much better action to play Nord's pianos from, plus it has great EP sounds of its own that I think beat Nord's. With the right stand, you can rest the front of the Nord directly on the SV1 and keep the actions nicely close together, and the whole setup looks nice and takes up minimal stage space for a 2-board rig. The only problem is that the 73 weighs 38.5 lbs.

Good call. That sounds like a good combination for all those reasons. As long as I can remember you advocate for the dual keyboard solution when it comes to good action. You can only truly get the best of piano action and organ action by having two boards. Hopefully an Electo 61-73 or Stage 73 above for your organs and synths plus a separate weighted board.

I went with the 88 key Juno DS which to me feels like a me close to real piano as I've felt. The only problem is the pitch stick comes out of the side of the board versus top left corner(I.e. pitch stick on Nord keyboards.) so it takes up a lot of real estate in a car or onstage. I still love the feel of playing it.
