My guess is that because it uses the A1 synth engine programmes created with it won't be compatible with any instruments that use a different synth engine.

Nah, I don't think it's the synth engine. The current samples work on Nord Stage 2, Nord Wave, Electro 3/4/5, all of which have different synth engines (or effectively none at all). It's just sample data... the synth functionality in (or absent from) your board determines how you can then process that data, but the sample data itself is the same.

I think analogika may be on to something in terms of new, additional data being embedded that the NS3 can make use of... but hopefully there will be a way to convert older samples, so those of us who have custom samples on our previous Electro/Stage models who may want to upgrade can bring our samples with us.

I think it might be related to more advanced multi samples... giving the sampled sounds more dynamic features... like articulation switching

Altough with only 512MB making new samples heavier might not be what people want, and thats why they are also converting all the old samples into the new format..


Not being able to load the old samples, might be a performance issue... seems thats one of the things they changed since the introduction..my little toe tells me they are fighting hard a Nord to make it all work, but things domt go as planned..

Looks like the whole step pitch bend limitation is still in effect on the Stage 3 . . . no mention of it being adjustable in the manual (unless I'm just missing it?). No option to disable the 1' drawbar when percussion is enabled in the organ section either.

Always thought these were weird limitations. I still want one though! haha

Yeah, looks like they already started shipping... I don't have my hands on one yet, but just received an mail saying mine is ready to pick up (10 km from where I am now)! Let's see if it was just a software glitch or if it's really there waiting for me
