Like the difference between a duet and a quartet
You can build more complex sounds by having 4 synths than having 2.
Also note that the effects section in the A1 is not exactly the same as in the NS3 (the ensemble FX seems to be missing).

@ macco00: This has discussed extensively in other threads too, so there is no need for a new one.

Re: A1 Lead in NS3 a big deal? (Post changed for clarity)
Hi there
I have a bit of a luxury problem. Can you help me out?
I have a Nord lead a1 and a Nord electro 4D (61 keys). Since the 61 keys are limiting me, I want to switch to 73 keys.
Now I have two options:
1. Sell Nord lead a1 and Nord electro 4D and buy Nord stage 3 (73)
2. Sell electro 4d (61) and buy a electro 6d (73)
Main concern is the 2 slots (NS3) vs the 4 slots (A1).
I spoke to a friend who owns a NS3 and he told me that the NS3 can produce layers. Therefore you can combine 2 x2 synth slots. Does anyone have experience with that?
Thanks for your answers

No, on the NS3 you can combine 1x 2 synth slots, and you can layer them with up to 2x organ and up to 2x pianosRobskey wrote: I spoke to a friend who owns a NS3 and he told me that the NS3 can produce layers. Therefore you can combine 2 x2 synth slots.

I find the 4 slots useful mainly for splits on the A1 (A+B / C+D). For my purposes, I can usually find a way to get to my desired sound using 2 slots. I have a similar setup to you, but with E5d 73, and I've often thought about upgrading the whole shebang to a Stage 3 compact. But I really think I'd miss having 2 keyboards - would that be an issue for you too?Robskey wrote:Hi there
