Which Keyboard A-frame to buy?

Which Keyboard A-frame to buy?

I am wishing to buy a keyboard A-frame to put my gear on it in my home studio/office (including my new Stage 2 88 when it arrives).

I have seen some other forum members photos which show their gear on A-frames and would really like some advice as to people's experience/recommendations as to which A-frame I should buy.

I don't have a huge amount of space but ideally I need at least four tiers and for my new Stage 2 to fit (which will probably be my biggest board). I don't know if this makes a difference but I am also 1.9m tall.

Having done some initial reserach I have seen some stands offered by Jaspers Alu-Systeme in Germany (who do stuff for taller players) which have been recommended by some people on other forums. http://www.jaspers-alu.de/eng/index1.html

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to get it right first time. :thumbup:

Hello Tinpig,
The A frame that I use was made in the eighties and not produced anymore "Keyman Support Systems, Italy".
From my perspective the biggest issues are: that the heavier a keyboard is, "also the harder that you play it" the less stable it seems on an A frame.
I almost always let the bottom large-main piano controller sit under the A frame on it's own more stable stand.

Another issue is that each tier has a sweet spot where the instrument balances as if on a tight rope, if it's too far forward, or too far back... it takes too much tension on the end-clamps to prevent it from spinning and dropping onto the next keyboard down. Often times trying to stay on this sweet spot reduces access to the controls and / or playing surface.

For me, only the bottom three keyboards are really playable, the top ones are usually played via MIDI.

The Memorymoog is sitting on two tiers to keep it stable "due to it's heaving bulk". :D
The Korg Triton Pro-X is on it's own Z stand under the A-frame.

This is my Keyman stand loaded down "it's one of the heartiest stands ever made":

The Jaspers stands look like the quality is good. If I ever need to replace my A frame, I'd certainly consider them.
