Stage 2 EX Compact Layering/Splitting
New to the forum and considering purchasing the Stage 2 EX Compact. Is it possible to have a piano sound across the whole keyboard and then layer a bass sound on the left and a B3 (organ) sound on the right side of the keyboard? So, one split point with 2 instruments layered on each side of the split.
If not, which Nord model can do this?
Thanks

Re: Stage 2 EX Compact Layering/Splitting
Piano both across keyboard - yes
plus bass on left -yes (as synth)
plus b3 on right -yes
----
Whole keyboard will be piano
Upper will be piano and B3
Lower will be piano and bass
this is quite easy and common.

Re: Stage 2 EX Compact Layering/Splitting
It is possible to split/layer multiple sounds as long as you respect the limit of having 2 generators per type (1 Organ, 1 Piano, 1 Synth each x 2 Slots A/B) in total.
Think of the NS2 as a master keyboard with 3 built-in bitimbral dedicated expanders, to give you a picture (you can also download the NS Midi Tutorial from this portal, which includes a good and visual explanation of NS architecture too).

Re: Stage 2 EX Compact Layering/Splitting
Great. Thanks. So, I could have piano across the keyboard with Bass on the left and then on the right how many sounds on top of the piano? And, From which type (piano, Organ, Synth)? Are there any lower priced Nords that can do the same splitting/layering?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Stage 2 EX Compact Layering/Splitting
You can have a total of 6 simultaneous sounds (2 slots 3 instruments per slot)
You can have a total of 2 split points (3 areas)
Each instrument has 2 slots so you can have
2 organ - One each slot
2 piano - One each slot
2 synth - One each slot
For organ type it must be same type across both slots. You cannot have hammond type and vox type simultaneously.
