Sequencer Software for WinXP
Can anyone recommend a simple sequencer solution for a WinXP netbook? Really, the simpler the better. I just want to be able to record piano accompaniments from my NP and play back. I haven't used software sequencers in years, as most of my former keyboards had built in sequencers. Is there such a thing as a simple single track, freeware sequencer program?

Re: Sequencer Software for WinXP
Hello Brody,
Welcome to the forums!
I've used Anvil Studio before. It's a freeware MIDI sequencer.
Also Aria Maestosa Although Aria doesn't realtime record, it has superior editing and scoring capabilities.
I have a friend that uses Anvil to record, and Aria to edit "he's real big on freeware"
This should get you started until someone posts with a better solution.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Sequencer Software for WinXP
Hi Brody and welcome!
I would add to Hanon's excellent suggestions (in particular Anvil Studio) two polar solutions:
1) If you really only need to record and playback MIDI: MidiPiano (http://code.google.com/p/virtualpiano/, dead simple but does the job, free)
2) To get a bit more DAW-like workflow, maybe even do some audio recording without overkill: REAPER (http://www.reaper.fm/index.php, pretty good but still not bloated UI, 30 days for free, discounted license 60$)
Cheers, Johannes
