Replacing felt on keybed - Electro 4 hp

Post by jorr92 »

I have a used Electro 4hp.....I noticed that the middle 2 1/2 octaves, seem to not feel as good as the ends.......I took it apart and saw that, the green felt on the under side of the keyed (where the weights hit) is worn down a considerable amount on the middle octaves.......seems to be the reason why they don't feel as tight as the ends......Ive ignored it for awhile but, now its affecting my playing. I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible, to buy replacement felt anywhere? the ends of the felt have minor ( if any) wear while, the middle has indents of 1/8" to all the way to the black rubber underneath.

Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Jim

Replacement felts will be the way to go and vastly more economical than replacing keybed. At least one person I know did microsurgery on his Nord at home with home-sourced felt, a sharp knife and some glue, cutting away worn bits and replacing them while leaving other bits alone. These parts will not be carried by Nord, but should be available via Fatar parts distribution channels in any country which has such channels. They will probably not be commonly stocked because there is little/no demand for these parts, so extended lead times may apply.

Bless,

Pablo

I did replace felt with hardware store felt, but in time it did not hold up. Maybe I need a stronger home-source felt. What do you think?

How long have you been playing the Nord E4 for the felt to feel that way. Just curious?
