Toughness of Nord Piano?

Post by bassist »

so, im thinking about getting a nord piano and heres my thing. Im the main backline tech for my church and currently have a 2 Roland Fantom X8 keyboards. One being our main piano sound (and its horrible at that haha). But, we have a few people that just pound on the thing and in the end, the keys end up cutting through the felt and cracking the frames. Therefore i have to repair them constantly and its a pain haha. So, my question is what type of key weighting system is in the Nord? and would it be prone to pre-mature failure from weak points in the system? I know its an interesting question haha but im curious if anyone would know :D

Hey bassist,

Except for my initial problems with my first NP, I've had no issues with the second one they sent me. I'm a pretty percussive player (everybody says I'm "pounding") and no problems in 5+ months...

Hello Bassist,
Welcome to the forum!
I can sympathize because I'm a very heavy handed player "literally".

The Nord Piano and several other Nord hammer action instruments use the Fatar TP/40 keybed:

It's a very durable keyboard, I've played one for about 2 years without any ill effects.
Cheers, Hanon
