Stereo speakers for the Nord Stage 2
Hello Nords,
I have been using a pair of old Barbetta Sonas 15 inch LF and HF horn had them for a lot of years and last few gigs one or the other have been shutting down on stage. Time for an upgrade I have two JBL srx815p's coming this week. I know crazy right, I tried to talk the wife out of letting me get them but she said you need to get something comparable to the Nord and who am I to argue with the wife.

I've been using one EV ZLX 15P. Works great for me, I'm sure you have lots of options. Tell your wife she looks pretty.

Unboxed the pair of JBL 815p's a little bigger than my previous boxes I had been using. Quite a bit heavier than the other as well. Cost for both JBL 815p's comes out to $1.00 per continuous watt of power from both units, this includes the JBL covers and a new pair of speaker stands. I have one of them taking stereo feed on the two inputs from my Nord Stage2 HA88. Just the one JBL mind you so it is not giving a true stereo image from the Nord. It is the cleanest clearest sound I have ever heard coming out of the Nord. I would compare my response to this sound to, my first listen to the New Nord at first unboxing marveling to the sounds emanating from it. Having to try every program in the three banks just to hear the clarity of the JBL's producing timbres I had not heard before. To me it is the last set of boxes I will purchase. At 63 years of age I see no need to go any further on improving my sound. My chops, always room for improvement but the sound, nirvana IMHO.

First of all, I'm about your age, and I've been a big fan of JBL products for decades, so I'm not surprised. I still have, and use a pair of 4311 studio monitors in my home that I purchased in 1979. ENJOY!

Re: Stereo speakers for the Nord Stage 2
I have been using a pair of JBL PRX 712's with NS2EX and Yamaha Motif in 5 piece rock band for about 9 mos. Initially very happy with sound and plenty of clear volume (never put the JBLs past 50% vol). about 4 mos ago started getting buzzing sound in both speakers when I played A2 on either keyboard, both with and without my small Mackie mix8 inline. Progressively got louder to point was very noticeable. After over 3 months of going back and forth with both local authorized repair and JBL corporate (extremely frustrating) they finally came to conclusion that cover on internal amp was vibrating in resonance with A2 freq and replaced amps in both speakers. Seems to have taken care of buzzing but left me with bad taste regarding responsivness of warranty repair and unsure if problem will comeback as local guy felt it was design problem (amp cover mass and mounting stiffener both insufficient). So sound is back up to par but not sure I will keep the JBLs or buy/rec in future. BTW - everyone involved did not experience before maybe because most such JBLs used for either PA or DJ purpose and any buzzing would be hard to detect with such app. Anyone else have such issue?

I'm using 2 KRK Rokit 5 and a KRK 10s (subwoofer): no problems with my wife (neither with my neighbours
)

Re: Stereo speakers for the Nord Stage 2
I studied the prx700 series and noticed a price drop on the units and also kept an eye on the reviews that sort of sent me to the srx815p's. I always had 15" LF drivers to push the timbre of the Nord Stage 2 HA 88 pianos. This unit has a crown amp in the box I believe the prx700 series utilizes a JBL amp system. Although both JBL and Crown are subsidiaries of Harmon Industries this is the first time both were dedicated to one product at this level. Still had a little buyers remorse until I took one of the JBLs to an open Blues Jam here in Philly and with three guitar slingers two harp players and three vocalists out front, Bass and Drums filling the rhythm section I cut through the FOH with such clarity that compliments were forth coming from the house. Always nice to hear after all that sheading.
At home I use a pair of Mackie 8/24 studio monitors and a set of Sennheiser HD 380 pro cans. My best regards on the PRX712's and hoping they prove to be a good choice. I like the KRK Rockets and the 10' sub is sweet. Back to the Wife, now if I can just talk Her into a new MacBook and a RME UFX interface but then the alarm clock sounds, back to reality.
