NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
As I stated somewhere else...the piano samples are AMAZING. However, I would like to see unlooped piano samples similar to Roland and Korg but with the same hi-quality detail Clavia produces. I feel it will add even more realism to an already great piano sample!

The NS2 seems pretty well rounded to me, except that it desperately needs customizable pitch bend. The fixed 2-tone bend range is just ridiculous; I've asked them for this feature, but the latest update didn't incorporate it. It's actually kind of frustrating, as this would be the ideal board for me if only this feature was included - and it had better not max out at one octave.
Secondly: to my understanding, the vibrato range and speed have been made editable per patch. That's neat, but I'd like to see the option to widen the range of the vibrato vastly for extreme uses.
I would like :
Possibility to send all instruments in FX 1, 2, and 3 (delay phaser...).
Possibility to customize the bender range and IN EACH PROGRAM independantly (-24 / +24 would be great).
Have a reverb in the FX 1 2 or 3 panel
Morph with every buttons like the NL3 or at least with Synth part.
Possibility to mix midi messages from the keyboard and the Midi input port, to the Midi out port, to use it a little like a Midi thru (my old Rand D70 worked like this).

Re: NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
Possibility to affect internal instruments to the extern section (A&B). So, we could control 2 items of our choise with the Morph (good for synth section, arpegiator, global reverb...).

The small holes for the music stand also for the Compact version!!! maybe user-detachable at least??

Re: NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
One thing that I want before I will buy a nord stage is a better sample editor. Where you can use layers of samples on a key. For example brass that maybe when i press really hard the brass would then fall in pitch (an other sample). And to capture the articulations of the instrument better with the dynamics of my playing

Re: NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
[@ Admin: I would suggest to fix this thread at the top, so Clavia employees can find it always and quick.
]
My suggestions for Clavia and the NordStage 2:
- "Program Loading Mode" from System Menu
In the Manual v1.x still described, in the current version not implemented. I would like to use it!
[edit]
This is irrelevant. Thanks to Tomas Johansson from Nord Instruments who pointed me to the manual (rtfm
)
"This system setting is replaced by the Pending Load feature on the panel instead, that allows you to browse the memory w/o loading sounds until you confirm."
- Sound release
A sound (preset) should release until the played keys are released, even if a program change has occured. This works only for Slot A/B, but not for presets.
- Different splitzones for Slots A and B
When layering A & B this could also be nice, but more important are different splitzones for the slots when switching them while playing a song. Even if the last point (release sounds) is not possible and one has to change sounds very quickly.
- Individual splitpoints (not only at C and F)
This is of course a problem with the existing hardware, where LEDs show the splitpoints. A solution would be, that two LEDs are softly flickering if a splitpoint lies between these two LEDs. Setting the splitpoint could be done by the data entry dial.
- Velocity for the Organ
Maybe as a system parameter, but per preset. Perhaps there are die-hard hammond players who could not imagine this. But the NS2 is a modern instrument and I would like to see it. I think the possibility should be there. It was usual to me with the keyboard I played before the NS2, so it is kind of big reorientation to me.
- Several sources for the effect slots,
as already mentioned by other users. But I see, that this is also a hardware problem, so I can live without.
- Expanded range of ModEnv in Filter and Amplifier in the Synth-section
The lack of the sustain parameter makes the programming of "clicky" sounds difficult. Moreover, working with very short decay times lowers the amount of ModEnv.
- Saving all Synth-parameters with "Saving synth sound"
The Voice-section (monophonic, unisono mode, glide, vibrato) will not be saved when storing a synth sound. I would like to see it. But it is a personal taste, I would also like to hear different peoples meaning.
- Shape Mod / Freq. Mod2 value preview
This is a bug in my opinion, I will write to Clavia directly: The value-preview funktion (pressing shift & turning the knob) show the same value, even if the knob is turned left or right, there is no difference between the parameters, so you don't see which parameter belongs to the value you see.
- Fade In for Vibrato Delays
The Vibrato delay function of the synth section just switches the vibrato on after the delay time. Its much more musical if the vibrato fades in.
- User definable categories
Some sounds don't fit to any of the categories. Therefore it would be nice if one can define (and name) some own categories.
Suggestions for the Sound Manager Software
- Asking for "overwrite existing sound" when uploading
If saving sounds to disk ("uploading") an existing sound with equal name will not be overwritten, an additional sound with *name_1* will be written. At least you got a huge list of sounds you never need anymore. A request would be useful.
- Showing used samples
The Manager should show, which samples (pianos, synths) are used by the preset, in the sample tab the preset should be showed which uses the sample and so on (synth, waves etc). Sorting by these aspects would be useful too.
- Option for saving all system settings of the NS2
I would like to see a file format which can save all the system settings I've made, for backup purposes.
Thats just all!

Thanks for your attention.

Have you tried to do a system backup within Nord Sound Manager (just click the "backup" icon on top) ?Bernard wrote: - Option for saving all system settings of the NS2

I can find a "System/Settings.ns2y" file in my "ns2b" backup file.
I presume it is a way to save system settings.

Re: NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
I edited my previous posting regarding the "Program Loading Mode"
But this is about 700MB and takes 35 minutes to save.
What I suggested, is a seperate file format (and -function) to save only the system settings (just a few kB). Apart from the backup purposes, imagine different situations (stage / studio) with different MIDI configurations, which could be loaded then very quickly.
Bernard
I don't know exactly, what you mean. Of course, the system parameters are stored within the backup file.audioird wrote:Have you tried to do a system backup within Nord Sound Manager (just click the "backup" icon on top) ?Bernard wrote: - Option for saving all system settings of the NS2

Re: NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
Hi Everybody,
I bought an NS2 and I love it even I am a poor keyboard player.
My main instrument is the guitar which I play since 30 years (fusion, jazz-rock), so I use a device called Axe Fx Ultra from fractal audio as preamp with effects for my stratocasters.
This is an expensive device and the best processor professionnal guitarpreamp ever made.
To drive the Axe Fx there is an editor (far better than rotate knobs and see through a display) that allows you to see and change every parameter in real time so you can listen what you're doing.
I do not rotate any knob anymore and use a full computer monitor to make my settings and it is vey confortable.
The first time I used the Nord Sound Manager with my NS2, I was a bit disapointed, because of the lack of view and settings possibilities in comparison with Axe Edit (Boss-Roland has a similar editor as the Axe Fx editor also).
I would suggest Clavia with respect to look what is made by another processor device builders (editor) to perform Nord Sound Manager which would be very usefull for everyone when it gets new fonctionnabilities.
frantzkb ( Salut !) is working on a tool that could help everyone of us and I suggest to encourage him to go further.
Cheers.

Re: NS2 Wish List: Something missing on the NS2?
Concerning Leslie in the Stage 2
Hi everyone, and especially the engeneers of Nord
I find that the fast speed of the leslie is to high. It would be nice that it could be changed in the midi settings. For example a knob (controller) with a choice let's say 1 to 10).
I hope that this will be possible in a next update.
thanks in advance,
Greetings
