Transferring sounds fro NE3 to NE5

Post by RickS »

Just recently got my NE5d. Upgrading from a NE3. My question is, is there an easy way to transfer sounds (.nsmp files) quickly and easily from the 3 to the 5 ? I haven't customized the sounds in any way just .nsmp files I've downloaded. At this point I look at the file name in the librarian of the 3, find that file on the Nord site or this forum, download it and load it onto the 5. Hoping there is a less time consuming way to do this.

Thanks

I had wanted to do the same when I went from a 3 to a 4. I was told I could not.

Hi RickS,

If you have a backup of the NE3 (and if you don't, you better make one!), then:

1) make a copy of that backup file
2) rename the backup by changing the file extension to .zip
3) unzip that file

This will result in the creation of three subfolders: Piano, Sample, Program. Each subfolder will contain...well, what you would expect them to contain.

4) Connect NE5 via USB to computer running Nord Sound Manager
5) download desired sample (and piano, if you wish) files to NE5 from computer harddrive via SOUND DOWN command

depending on available memory and the size of your intended download, you may need to clear some space by deleting existing resident sample files on the NE5 (but this is not likely to occur)

Bless,

Pablo
