Questions before buying E5

Post by Graspieper »

Hi,

As soon as some of you get their E5's, would you be so kind to answer these questions?

- if I connect a midi controller to the E5, and I switch programs/sets while notes are played,
does this cause hanging midi notes?
- is there a 'midi panic' button or function on the E5 in case this happens?
- the Electro range has no synth, but can use synth samples.
Is this enough to make an adequate performance?
- there is a midi split function, which allows the upper part to be triggered by an external controller.
However, is there a way to have the lower part triggered by this external board?
- last but not least: are all settings (effects, gain, transpose) stored in the programs/setlists?

Many kind regards to all of you!
Grtz :thanx:

Hi Graspieper,

I don't yet have all the answers (I don't yet have an NE5 -- should be next week), but I can get a head start on at least some of these...

1) this should not be a problem. I suspect that there may an All Notes Off command generated with each program change to prevent this. Will confirm later...

2) yes, there is a panic button located at the bottom of the Piano Section (press and hold SHIFT first) as shown in the NE5 manual

3) there is no mod wheel or pitch bend...reasonable people can disagree over what is or is not adequate...

4) all settings are stored in programs; setlists are a completely different thing

Setlists are comprised of SONGS which you can name, each of which can contain up to four programs. The programs contain the data about which you are concerned.

Bless,

Pablo

If I connect an external midi keyboard to the E5d,
will the sound be transposed if I use the transpose function on the E5d?

Not sure whether transpose is stored in programs, it's not in the Electro 4.
