What's your favorite piano please?

I have just got my stage 2 working - at present only through cans but thats OK. I am in the process of learning the interface and Sound manager thingy.
Not yet sure of what pianos to hunt down first. Its really important to me ot have the best piano loaded (for studio work) especially a grand.

Which would people recommend please?

Which pianos can you live with for practice and studio?

Congratz with your NS2!!

For studio and home practise I'd use the Bosendörfer or the Steinway Grand lady D. They are both great!

All the pianos are great, but it will be the style of the music that will ask for a specific sound.
I've tested all the pianos but I'm still using the Yamaha C7 studio 1.
For my ears, it is still sounding good.
You will need to test it all, because all the pianos sound different for each people.

1.Grand Lady D 'Steinway' (wish they made it in XL). Tone is very rich & full.

2. Bosendorfer Imperial. That bass is AHHHHMAZING!!

I wish the Bright Grand had the basses of the Bosendorfer Imperial ...

I wish the Bright Grand had better lower velocity sound to make it fully expressive instrument....

At the moment I have a kind of problematic situation of choosing between Bosendorfer and Bright Grd as my main stage piano. Bright has nice general tone color, great power and punch. I have noticed clearly that this new piano gives me new rhythmic power especially in comping. Same patterns which I have used to play now really rock. Bosie has quite nice and powerful sound too but it has some nasality (or unnaturality) which makes it maybe my second choise here. Lady is too soft to pop/rock/jazz stuff...

But, when I play softly and more lyrical stuff this Bright shows its "dark side": it sounds like lacking sample layers in this lower velocity area.

Ok, then some people say that use Bosie (or Lady) in softer stuff and Bright in more aggressive, but unfortunately there're songs that have both...

This depends a lot on the music you play, the audio gear you connect to your nord, and even if you play on stage, home or studio.

This is what I did:
1) removed all pianos and harpsichords from memory to free up space
2) loaded ALL the 7 available grand pianos in M size (all will fit the memory)
3) played together with my piano teacher all the pianos to find the best for us.

We liked the Concert Grand Ambient StwD.
Now I will do the same with the uprights.

At the end, will load only one L or XL grand and one upright, which will leave space for all the epianos, clav and probably a few more ac pianos or harpsichords.
