actually...there is a MIX Knob on the Nord E5D...smaller format on the unit on the Nord Website...but maybe the grainy video had a preliminary knob during beta test?

Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
Hm, I don't get ist: why have you bought a Nord Stage 2 in the first place, if it doesn't suit your needs?
Savoy Truffle don't intend a musical revolution but rather to make this world a slightly better place to be – with cleverly arranged, intelligent, stylish and ultimately beautiful pop songs.

Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
this does signify that in order to provide more value than an E5...the NS3 will need to have expandable sample memory...at least A/B/C panels (I see A thru D buttons on the E5) and a double synth / sample engine for layered textures...kick me if I am dreaming...but the A1 engine could just be the beginning.

+ 1. IMHO, this is worth waiting 6 or 12 months more, isn't it?Mr. Marko wrote:this does signify that in order to provide more value than an E5...the NS3 will need to have expandable sample memory...at least A/B/C panels (I see A thru D buttons on the E5) and a double synth / sample engine for layered textures...kick me if I am dreaming...but the A1 engine could just be the beginning.

Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
Hi Folks,
as a long-time Clavia user I always anticipate their announcements. I really was surprised to see the NE5, because the NE4 is just two (?) years on the market.
I see it from both sides. First, it is necessary for Clavia to incorporate features that the market demands, split/layer is really a huge step forward for the product line. But from a marketing point of view, it is way too early, it will REALLY piss off consumers who just purchased the NE4. Of course, we will need to see the price tag, maybe they'll continue both models.
The display is also a great bonus for the drawbar models, since you now instantly see any program's drawbar-settings, regardless of the position of the physical drawbars. This is a major concern for me on the NE4D, since one can distinguish the programs only by their numbers - on my NE3, which I swapped for the NE2 three years ago, I just watched the drawbar-LEDs while browsing through the programs rather than memorizing the program numbers.
As a owner of a Stage 2, I see where the journey is going for it's successor: I am almost certain that the next iteration of Nord Stage, whether Stage 3 or Stage 2 EX or Stage-Something, will feature that display and the drawbars. And of course more memory. Such a flagship product and workhorse just cries for a way to visualize critical data and working states on one centralized spot.
And, although this is not a wishlist, I would LOVE to find more improvements: User-defined splitpoints, a real second oscillator in the synth, make the synth FULLY morphable, ...
But until then, I will continue to play my NE2 with a smile on my face, since it is the best you can put - well - on a stage.
Best regards
Markus

Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
I too am extremely disappointed at this launch. it seams that Clavia aren't listening to us customers working with this equipment on a daily basis, etc. this is the way it's gone with a number of companies including Roland as an example. let's not go there. I'm surprised no new nord leads or a new stage 3. who wants 1gb piano library on a 73 note machine? seriously. 256mb sample synth ram not enough.
I use my own sound libraries, etc and have to create system wide backups of my stage 2 and reset it for different situations. bloomin ridiculous how a product like this comes out. WHAT A FLOP!

Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
The E5 is totally irrelevant. It's like a handicapped stage. You can have a big fat minimoog saw bass....no pitch bend and no filter.
The thing isn't worth having, unless you're skint.

Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
Well - if they discontinue the Stage as some people are wondering - given that the NP and NE lines are blurring the edges, then my NS2 will hold its value quite well (like the Wave), so I for one will not complain
IMHO - more likely is that they bring out a NS3 with a much more powerful synth - possibly with some of the A1 features. They need a kickass flagship model for PR reasons, and the E5 'aint it.

And now for something completely different...
Re: no new stage AGAIN!!!
I knew back in 2011 when they released the stage 2 that it needed upgrades, and that was 4 years ago, a nothing new, and unless i get a really good deal on a stage 2, i still wont be purchasing one any time soon.
