Do you have a tester to measure resistance?
If so check what values you get between tip and shield and between tip and ring with the pedal at it extreme positions.

To be honest, it sounds like you're just expecting too much of the pedal. You're not likely to get a "millimeter perfect" response from any pedal, especially when you're mixing and matching different brands of keyboards and pedals. Voltages and resistances in pedals and keyboards are always going to be an approximation, so there is always going to be a bit of play at full-on and full-off points.

It seems pretty obvious that the FV-500L just doesn't suit what you want, so you might be better off looking for another model that will be closer to your needs.

RedLeo, you're probably right. This is my first expression pedal so I wouldn't know what to expect. I could easily manage with the FV-500L but if there was a pedal that had better response I'd want to know. I think I'm going to buy a Yamaha FC7 today and compare the pedals. Then I can make an informed decision about the subject.

Edit: I purchased an FC7 and absolutely love the response. I will return the BOSS to the store. Thank you for your replies!

He said something about Nord not supporting BOSS-pedals.

Highly recommend the KORG XVP-10. Amazon and eBay prices are all over the place. My Stage 2 SW73 just loves it. It is a combo volume or expression pedal. Big and heavy cast aluminum.

Hello I recently bought this pedal too. I read around that it should work but so far no luck with my Nord Stage 3. My cable connection into the pedal is "exp" and "control pedal" in the NS3. I've tried both TS and TRS cable, tried to adjust the settings of the pedal in use in the NS3 (Fatar/Korg/Roland/Yamaha) but I don't seem to be getting any response. I doubt my TS cable is broken 'cause I still use it and it works. The TRS cable however has been sitting for awhile now so could it be the TRS cable that's defective (although never used) or does FV-500L just don't work with a NS3?

For what it’s worth, I’ve had one of these for nearly a decade with no Nord compatibility issues… first with my Electro 4, then with my Stage 3. It’s been faultless.
But because of its bulk, it stays at the church (where it also works with a Kurzweil). I went to an EV-30 in my gigging backpack, for its compact size.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I believe I have my Nords set to “Fatar” for both of these… precisely because it was compatible out-of-the-box with the Kurzweil, whose expression pedals were Fatar OEM.

Are you using a TS or TRS cable? And the jacks are placed in what inputs?
