Backup Nordlead 2X Sounds Easiest Way

Post by jschmidt1981 »

Hey Nordlead 2x friends,

try to find a way backing up all performance settings and sounds. You know, everybody fears: What happens if my hardware chrashes and I need a new device with my programmed sounds for the next gig. Does anybody know what´s the easiest way saving performance settings and sounds externally?

Thanks to everbody! :yourock:

Greetz,
Jürgen

Hi Jürgen

the easiest and only way is to do a MIDI sysex bulk dump according to the manual on side 77. If you are using a Windows PC the freeware "Midi-Ox" is the best program to receive and send sysex data. Another possibility is to use a DAW/Midi-sequencer software.

As "Jürgen" sounds German here's the German manual: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sites/defa ... 0v1.0x.pdf

You can send/receive both single programs and performances and complete banks. Just try and check it out! It's quite simple.

Hopefully that helps!

Hej!

In my home "studio" I use my Mac for restore/download of programs and performances.

At a rehersal or gig I use my iPad.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midi-to ... 15330?mt=8
You could probably also use a Windows box of some kind.
And some suitable cables of course.
The NL2X manual is also nice to have a look at.

What tools do you want to work with?

Well, I use a cheap MIDI-to-USB cable that looks like this and connect it to my NL2X and my Rechner (Mac)! Totally OK.

Hi Jürgen,

because of the forum language is English I've sent you a private message.

The type of MIDI-to-USB-cable/interface that Marlows shows in the previous post is correct and will work!

Just don't use one that is too cheap. Really cheap ones alledgedly have problems with the burst of data that results from a bulk dump, i.e. they get internal data overruns and loose part of the data. I use an M-Audio USB Midisport Uno which I've had no problems with when doing all sorts of bulk dumps (sysex transfers).
