External FX for the Nord Lead 3

Post by OmriAlvayero »

Hi there,
I have a Nord Stage 2 (88) and recently bought a Nord Lead 3.

Since the lead 3 has lack of effect section,
I thought to use external fx on it.
There is anyone who made a something similar? :wtf:

I look into the YouTube video of Daft Punk cover medley by Pigeon,

I noticed that the keyboardist uses a different bass/guitar effects on his Nord lead 2X anniversary model (and those who want to know exactly):

- Boss RE-20 Space Echo
- Boss ODB-3 bass overdrive
- Digitech Bass Synth Wah

I know that many players also like to use a Fulltone OCD (that can be bought in a relatively cheap price),
or different kinds of moogerfoogers (but very expensive),
and I looked up the rare Akai Deep Impact SB-1 (that hard to find and sold in eBay at least $ 600)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2a59Hpfl98

And I thought maybe use the Zoom G3 / B3 Guitar/Bass multi effects.
But, on second thought, maybe it's not that easy and handy to use.

I'm looking for plug & play product,
something comfortable and Handy, that can also be save presets,
Such as having on the Stage 2
And wonder why Clavia not produce an external FX like this:

Does anyone have an idea what I can use? (or an MIDI solution?)
Thanks a lot! :keyboard2:

Hej Omri!

I am very, very happy with this budget solution:

Hey Marlowes
thanx for your answer!

Can you tell me how its work?
It has a MIDI interface for moving between presets?
'cause thats what I really need.

how you connected this to the Lead and move between presets?
I do not entirely understand the video you've linked...

By the way, I noticed that there are several different models...
there is a fundamental difference between them?

thx
Omri

I think that these look interesting (up to 6 simultaneous effects):
http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/ms-70cdr
http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/ms-100bt
but unfortunately they are not controllable by MIDI, which I think would be ideal to select the effect patches via MIDI ProgCh and associate effects to every synth patch.
I guess that the the ideal box would be to have as many stored patches as there are in the kbd (those above have 50 locations).
Clavia and Zoom, take note!

Hej igen, Omri!

The Pod? I do not use MIDI functionality, but yes, you can control most everything with MIDI, switch patches etc ... make your own "presets"
I mostly use the "tube amp", reverb, chorus and delay settings. And I tweak them by twisting the knobs - that feels great for an old guy like me.
That's one of the things I like a lot with Nord product: all the knobs! :D

To control the Pod by MIDI you would probably need a computer/laptop/tablet ...
An example manual you will find here: http://line6.com/support/manuals/pod2

Any Pod version will do, I guess. (The more you pay, the more and better you'll get.)
I just love my old Pod (1.0) because of the nice price as used.
And IMHO it is doing a great job softening up the sometimes harsh sounding patches of the NL2X.

Why Pod? Well, I also play some guitars ... so I found it in my "junkbox"!

My videos? Neither do I understand them. ;)
