Connecting Nord Electro 2 with Sound Manager HELP A NEWBIE!
Hello everyone,
I've recently picked up a Nord Electro 2. I know these are old machines now but can anyone guide me through how to connect it to the Nord Sound Manager so I can use some new piano sounds?
I've downloaded sound manager, connected the usb cable from my Nord to my MacBook but nothing happens. I am running OSX 10.9.4 and I believe my Nord is 3.0 (the decimal point flashes 4 times on start up)
Hope someone can help cos it's getting me down
Thanks
Craig

Not being funny, but if you have any friends with suitable computers, ask them to help you out. Someone with a laptop running Windows would your best bet here. You probably won't need to change piano sounds very often once you've picked some pianos you like.

Thanks RedLeo! I've tried connecting to an older imac running on 10.4.11...
I can't connect with sound manager (I'm starting to realise the limits of an NE2), but I've got Electro Tool up and running. Any pointers on how to move files in to my piano?
Regards
Craig

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Electro Tool. If it can see your Electro, you're probably good to go. Give me a couple of minutes and I'll see if I can get some info for you on how it works. you can find the instructions here: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/ ... -electro-2
Actually, on reading the manual, there's not much to it - it looks pretty simple. Have a go with the instructions and if you have any problems, let us know. good luck

You're right, it's fairly simple. I've deleted the rhodes in the first slot... all I need to do now is find out how to put a new sound in its place. I've downloaded Rhodes_2.cn3 but im not sure how to put it in to the empty slot!
Thanks for your help.

I've no idea what that Rhodes is. Did you get it from the Nord website? I'm asking because you can only load Nord pianos into the Electro.

Ok, never seen that file type before, that's fine.
First you need to find the file and get it displayed in the left-hand window of the Electro Tool, then click on it to select it. Once you've done that, click in the right-hand window (on the little display) to show which location in the Electro you want to put it, then finally click the "Send" button (that's the right-arrow button between the two windows).
A dialog box should come up asking you to confirm it. Click "Yes" and it should start erasing the destination location and then load the new Rhodes into that location. As far as I can see , you don't have to do anything more.
