Hi -
I got the Yamaha FC-7 pedal as many on the forum have suggested. The feel is very nice. I can get the pedal to control organ swell by plugging it either into Organ Swell or Control Pedal jacks. However, I also want to be able to control the Morph and have been unable.
Here's what I've tried:
- I have it plugged into Control Pedal.
- In System Menu, I sent Ctrl Pedal Type to Yamaha FC-7.
- In System Menu, I set Control Pedal Func to Ctrl+Swell.
- I'm on a patch marked MW and the Morph wheel has an obvious effect.
However moving the pedal does nothing to change the morph. Even weirder, when I'm in the System Menu, I can see numbers changing from 0% to 100% as I move the pedal, so it is clearly capable of receiving input.
Is there some other panel setting that I'm missing that tells the patch to listen to the pedal?

Ok, after days of trying, of course I figure this out as soon as I post -- The Morph Assign needs to be on Cttl Ped as well as Wheel.
But this actually brings a new question: For all of the pre-existing patches, did you go through and wiggle the wheel to figure out which parameter to assign to Ctrl Ped? It is a bit tricky to get it to match exactly.
How do you guys use it? Do you set Wheel and Ctrl Ped to change the same parameter (because you might not bring the Ctrl Ped some day) or do you have them control different parameters?

By holding down a morph button, you can see the existing morphs (except for effects that are not in focus). If you need more accuracy, you can twist the corresponding knob very slightly while still holding the button, and it will show the original and morphed values.
I don't use the presets very often, and when I do, it is just a starting point for a custom program. In my own programs, the mod wheel and control pedal usually do different things, so I can't really leave the control pedal at home. (They are actually both controlled from a MIDI pedal board. One of them is usually just some sort of volume adjustment.)
